It's one of the reasons why, not only coaches but, training partners, real partners, are so crucial to training and competing success.
Me getting coaches and mentors and then building a group was by far, even more than my gym, the best thing I did for my strength career.

It's been a little different but not too bad. I still hit at least one set of my working weight with sleeves only so I'm still getting in some decent work there.
Luckily there's not too many sets with them because the worst part so far is having to take the time to actually wrap them. I need to teach my son how to do itBetter Body Sports

The one thing I'm learning (thanks Wade ) is that some really good pace into the hole...even without wraps...is going to result in a bigger rebound and more speed coming out of the hole. I think it compounds a bit when you add wraps into the mix.
I thought you had to use the wraps in lieu of underwear anyway right??Better Body Sports

The problem I run into with bigger speed into the hole is going too deep (I know this is asking for a joke) and that is when at the bottom I get more forward lean, more shifting on to my quads etc.

I'm careful to delineate between speed into the hole and speed coming out. I like using the term pace versus speed. Speed going down sometimes, well, many times, sees the lifter loosen up as they get into the hole and then trying to rebound hard and many times, they lead with the fanny and hips. That's probably something you are experiencing. So, we don't really say slow it down but use pace into the hole. It's more controlled than dropping in the hole. You have more control this way and then when in the hole, explode out leading with the back of the head and maintaining upright form.
Hard to verbalize but, hopefully, this makes sense.

The worst part of squatting with wraps is not being able to feel anything below your midthighs. If you can feel legs while wearing wraps, you are doing it wrong.

That's for sure. I've always felt I wrapped myself tight but nothing compared to someone else wrapping.
ONe of these days, I'll have to be at a meet Thad is doing and wrap him...
