Seems like there is a new "Going to Vegas, need advice" thread every week at least. Figured I'd make a decent post with some basics so that I can just link the thread whenever there is a new thread instead of typing out the same information all the time. I'm not a Vegas expert or anything, but I have been there 20+ times and like to think I know how to have a good time in sin city. Gambling isn't really my thing, so this is more about clubs/pools/drinking.
HOTELS
If you want to stay at a "nice" hotel, then I would definitely recomend either the Aria, Cosmopolitan, or Palazzo. The rooms here are pretty pricey, but they are worth it IMO. They all have really nice pools and vibes, and their locations are all also pretty good, next to food/clubs. The Aria has standard sized rooms, but they are really nice and clean. It's a new hotel, so it feels new. Cosmopolitan and Palazzo have either condo style rooms, or big suites, which are really nice if you are going with a group, you can easily sleep 6 people in most of these rooms, with everyone getting a bed/couch (you'll have to double up though of course.
If you are more on a budget, but still want something nice, my personal favorite is Planet Hollywood. The rooms are nice, the pool is meh, but it's a great casino with decent rooms and a great vibe. It also probably has the best food selection in Vegas (Earl of Sandwich, Pinks), as well as a few nice places to get drinks (Fat Tuesday). The location is amazing though, you are almost dead center on the strip, and can walk pretty much anywhere you want. This is probably the most popular place for younger people to stay, because of the atmosphere and price.
If you are really on a budget, then the Flamingo or Imperial Palace are great choices. The rooms are older, and sometimes don't exactly have the cleanest feel, but if you're just going with a few friends and would rather shell out money at the clubs or for drinks/gambling and what not, then these are not bad choices. Pretty basic rooms, not too cramped though actually.
Places I wouldn't recommend would be Excalibur or Luxor, because they are kind of far off the strip, and the rooms are a little dated, and they just don't have the best vibes. The Monte Carlo also has a similar vibe, but they have a decent pool with a lazy river to make up for it. The pool was dirty the last time I went though.
Pools
MGM has some of the best pools, if you want to go to a pool party, this is the place. The Bellagio also has some AMAZING pools. Really though, anywhere you go will be fun. The pools are a great way to get to meet some people to go out with later in the day, everyone is there to have fun and meet people. If you want to get a cabana, go for it. I've only got one twice, but it was really cool both times. Way easier to get girls to come drink with you, and then meet up with them later. It's also nice to have your own home base if you plan on being by the pool all day. It gets pretty hot and the shade is nice, as well as a place to keep your drinks cool. I've gone to the pools before, met people, and ended up just hanging out with them for the rest of the trip, didn't even go to the clubs just drank in eachother's rooms and walked the strip. Don't gotta spend big to have fun.
Clubs
First off, if you are going to a club in Vegas, and don't have bottle service, then you should probably go get in line at 9 at the latest, or else you will spend hours waiting in line, lose your buzz, and have to buy $20 drinks inside. Don't believe any "VIP Entry" "Guest List" or stuff like that. It's all BS to make you feel special and go to their club, but really, it's just the same basic line everyone waits in.
Getting a table/bottle service is an easy way to get girls, obviously. Way easier than picking up stuck up girls looking for a guy with bottle service. If you are going with a group of guys, bottle service is almost a must, because you will have a hard time getting into a club with a group of guys and no girls. You can always find girls in line if you don't get bottle service, but that's sketchy because the bouncers will sometimes take the girls away and leave you in the dust. If you can afford bottle service, I'd do it. If not, no worries, just make friends at the pool and hit up the club with them.
Dress code is pretty strict. A nice button up, nice pants, dress shoes. No graphic tees or holey/worn jeans, and no white soled shoes.
If you like electronic music, like I do, then Marquee@Cosmopolitan is probably the club you want to go to. It's a pretty big club, that is beautiful and pretty spacious if you go to the right areas. The dance floor is a little small but it's surrounded by other areas that you can dance at. There are a ton of bars all over the place, and prices are about the same as anywhere else in Vegas for drinks. As with most Vegas clubs, there is an inside and outside to catch some air. Pretty young crowd, mostly college aged or a little older.
XS@Encore is also one of the "beautiful" clubs. Also one of the more crowded clubs. Highly recommended, I don't know anyone that goes here and doesn't like it. Similar crowd to Marquee, but more Asians, if that's your thing. Some older people too.
Tao@Venetian is one of my favorite clubs, it has a few dance floors, and is pretty big. They play a nice variety of music, but mostly top40 stuff. Pretty young crowd for the most part.
You really can't go wrong with any of those clubs. Pure@Caesars is also nice, but I thought it was a little small, and the crowd was a little older (30s). Haze@Aria is supposed to be a good club, but I didn't go in because one look at the line told me it was a club for people in Vegas going through a mid-life crisis. Tons of older-ladies with caked on makeup. A few younger people, but I'd rather give my $40 to a different club. Those are all the "main" clubs. But any of them will be fun. Remember that the girls are out there to have fun too, and they are really, really easy.
Random Tips
-If you want easy/free drinks, go to a penny slot, play 1 line, 1 bet (1 cent per push) and wait for the cocktail waitress to come by. You can get free drinks from her, just tip her $10-$20 and tell her to bring you a few drinks, or tell her to keep em comin. In an hour you really won't lose much money wise, and can easily score enough drinks to get a decent buzz going.
-Fat Tuesday is an awesome place to get drunk for cheap. They have them all over the place, you can get shots for like $1, and get those big slushees you see everyone walking around with. The prices are pretty decent, $30 will get you drunk.
-Earl Of Sandwich. Earl of Sandwich. Remember that. It's at Planet Hollywood (right up front) and it's open 24/7. Most sandwiches are $5ish and they are delicious. Try it, you won't regret it. Amazing when you're sober or drunk. They invented the sandwich (srs) give it a shot.
-Don't underestimate walking the strip. Some of my best nights in Vegas have also been the cheapest, where you grab a few drinks and walk the strip. You will be amazed at what you come across (fights, idiots, cool people, etc). I can't really explain why this is so fun, but trust me, it is. There's a ton of bars you can walk into to grab a drink and make a few friends, then continue your journey.
-If there is a hot girl in your group, go to the CVS on the strip or a random booth on the strip and buy her a crown/tiara/something that says "happy birthday" or something like that. It will be the best $5 you spent on the trip. She will get free drinks all night from random drunk dudes hitting on her, and she can pass them on to you if she is cool. Last time I went, my friend got me and another friend into some dudes bottle service area, and we drank probably $600 worth of Vodka from these guys, all because they wanted to show my friend, the "birthday girl" a good time, and she said she wouldn't party with them, without us. It's a good tip. Give it a shot, you won't regret it srs.
If anyone else has anything to add, feel free. That's a pretty basic summary of my Vegas knowledge. Hope it helps some people have a good time.

Pool parties to check out
-> Wet Republic @ MGM they often have some good DJs, when I went i think for memorial weekend they had deadmau5 spinning
-> Something at Hard Rock Hotel, fuking forgot
-> Also it's not that bad of an idea to stay at excalibur because it is at the end of the strip, what my bros and I did was start at that end (MGM actually) and strolled the up the bitch and down so it worked out fine
-> and really if you're strapped for cash, bring your own liquor and pre-game hard in your hotel with your boys then troll the strip all the night, it's good **** if you're with a good group.

I actually used the Vegas Passport before and I actually recommend them to a lot of my friends. We were able club hop to 4 different venues in one night without ever really waiting in the long lines. Walk straight up to the front and show them the Passport wallet and they just let us in. It's only $120 for the Ultimate package and I didn't have pay any entrees fees.

Best table game to play to earn points on your players card, or just get smashed is whatever the lowest table ( usually 10 bucks a hand ) Pai Gai you can find. For those that have never played pai gai its basically poker, you get 7 cards and you play a top hand and a bottom hand. the bottom hand is your best 5 card hand, the top hand is your 2nd best 2 card hand. You have to win both, or lose both to win or lose so theres a loooooooooot of pushes. You can literally get 1-2 free drinks by the time you win or lose a single hand. just keep betting the table minimum and you wont go up or down more than 20 bucks in an hour.

That's why you pre-game HARD and if you start sobering up, go gamble a little and get some comped drinks. Or you could bring a flask, but I never do.
I asked some lady that worked at Pure @ Caesar's when I was there and she said $1500 minimum... LOL no thx!
But cover is typically $30-40 at most clubs so you have to go to 3-4 different clubs in one night just to break even? LOL seems easier to just pick one place to go instead of paying $120 to go anywhere.Mod negged for Zyzz post. Mods gonna mod.
