edit: Besides a harassing conditioning to sports when I was younger, I started actually getting into running by doing light pace-work on the treadmill. I would raise the speed when I felt like I needed a burn, and lower it at about the time I thought a cool-down would feel good. Always kept running/jogging though, and did it for about 20 minutes. After that is when I started working on my practice below.
Work on your running times for distances from 1 mile to 2 miles. I'd personally choose to work on your 1 mile time more, as the training is more concise. Distance runners often practice on distances less than their main event to work on anaerobic conditioning.
Longer and shorter distances should be practiced though, so I'd just say work on improving your mile and your 2 mile, and see which improvements actually help your 3/2 mile.
