not sure where you get this from, but nonetheless sprinting is NOT cardio. sprinting, depending on the distance, is largely anaerobic.
to the OP...
it depends on what your goal is. a good rule of thumb is to do first whatever your priority is.
if your goal is to get faster: sprint first. sprinting itself is a hell of a workout, but if you are fatigued, form will fail, and you will not get any faster. weight train after, but be prepared to go, at least at first until you adapt, much lighter on the weights.
if your goal is strength: weight train first. sprinting then becomes just another leg exercise, and a very good one at that.
if your goal is bodybuilding: doubt it matters. what would be important is to choose an order, and stick with it. that way you can monitor progress. i will say that most folks seem to suggest hitting the weights first, but generally they are usually talking about cardio, and not sprinting. personally, i'd go with the sprinting first.
fwiw, from what i've read from track and field coaches, they all recommend sprinting first, then 2 hours later they hit the gym.
hope this helps, and good luck.

alternate sprinting and lifting every other workout. On sprinting days, work to failure. May sound weird, but i promise you' wont have losses in your legs . Throughout wrestling season, sprinting was my ONLY leg workout . After the season, having lost over 10 pounds, my legs had increased dramatically in size, and after a week back in the gym, my max squat went up 30 pounds

Sprint before your leg workout. The quads absorb shock when you run, so pre-tiring them out before you run only puts more stress on your knees. If it was any other part of the body, I'd say run after you lift, but with the legs, I'd say run first.
