Should women be required to keep receipts on expenditures with child support money?

We all know that a lot of guys get brutalized with child support, only to see their kids, often times, only one weekend a month.

The ex-wife then is free to take the child support money and spend it on wild nights and hot sex on another man, without any accountability for whether or not she spent a dime of it for the children.

Should women be required to keep itemized receipts and file quarterly reports on the receipts, documenting how they are using the money on the kids, and whether or not the child support is being used on non-child related purposes?

I don't really see a problem with this? It isn't alimony, after all, and if the man's intentions are to contribute to the child's college fund, etc., how can he verify the money is being used in such a manner?

yes i agree, actually... Money should be used towards sheltering, feeding, clothing. recreation and college fund for child, not the mothers weekend or her new purse...

well why does that even make sense?? having a kid costs a ton of money if the mother is spending her own money on paying for everything that the child needs then the child support money is more like a reimbursement

She could be buying the kids very little and using the child support to subsidize her lifestyle. Therefore, make her keep receipts on how she spends the money she is given as child support.

but i take this **** at a personal level..i have a son and his father hasnt paid a cent of child support but i also havent tried to make him pay anything neither but after hundreds of hundreds and hundreds of my own money spent to take care of my son...u better believe that when i do start getting child support its going to where i want it to go...**** lol i believe hes gonna have to pay back child support so maybe ill take a nice little vacation

If a woman is given $1,000 a month from a man, she should be required to provide receipts/support/documentation on how that $1,000 was spent/invested.

Spend half on rent/ food, which helps the child, but it shouldnt go towards your vacation....

If the dad isn't paying for it, that is unfortunate - why isn't he being court ordered to do so? Also, if he were court ordered, I believe his wages would be garnished if he refused to pay.

This thread isn't about dead beat dads, it is about those who are honest and hard working who are shelling out child support that is being used as alimony.

If women have the right to terminate their reproductive responsibilities through abortion by just saying a simple "No." to an unborn child, why can't a man do the same and avoid his paternal responsibilities of paying child support if he didn't want to?

can the receipts be from any time or do they have to be specific to the money that was given from the father?? i dont see why a woman who is taking care of your child would have to not only be a single parent, buy everything, and then on top of that have to prove that shes taking care of your child right...if you are in a situation where you think that your kid doesnt have what it needs then call cps and get custody...but just regular things that children need are expensive...and im sure that however you swing it most of the money coming from the father is either reimbursing what the mother has already spent or will spend in the future

It can go the other way Stevo. Let's say that the custodial parent shows receipts showing every dime that they spent solely for the feeding and caring of their child, and it amounts to much more than what he or she is receiving as child support payments.

Then what? Should the court demand that the one paying child support pay more per month because it's not enough?
