I wear compression shorts under my regular shorts when I go to the gym. They make me feel sturdy, the same way that tightly tied shoes do.
I've noticed that if I wear my Under Armour "Long" compression shorts - meaning compressed to the top of the kneecap - I have a harder time squatting than I do when I wear regular compression shorts, which only compress to midway down the thigh. The pump is also minimized in the longer compression shorts.
I was expecting it to be the opposite - when I run, the longer shorts feel great.
Anyone else have these issues? Are compression shorts primarily designed for cardio use?
