Then why do people have to go to therapy to be "cured?" Why is it something they "struggle" with? If you have homosexual desires that you are struggle with, you're gay or bi and there is no choice in your sexual desire. If it was a choice, they just would say "I'm not going to choose to find the same sex attractive" and they'd be done with it. The fact that they struggle shows that there is no choice involved in their desire.

Wouldn't work. We're talking about an attraction, so one has an attraction to drugs that could be natural and certainly isn't a choice or they would just say "ok, I'm choosing to not be attracted to drugs." Being addicted means you don't have a choice in your attraction. Getting off of drugs doesn't mean that attraction won't be there. The first thing they teach is that it will ALWAYS be there, so you have to stay away all the time.

Hmm. The analogy only works insofar as the comparison that drug addicts who do not get their fix begin to go through depression just as people who repress their sexuality tend to go into depression or develop psychosis. The reasons why, of course, are very different. Sexuality, whether brought on by environment or genetics (and we all know the truth is more likely a combination of the two), is innate, whereas drug addictions develop ultimately from exposure to said drugs and can actually be treated therapeutically. Also, being honest about one's sexuality is healthy, whereas getting addicted to drugs is not. The desires exist for entirely different reasons.

I would have thought the the point was easy to see. If the medicines can wipe out someone's sex drive, maybe the sexual attraction will go away, too. Maybe although no none can choose to be homosexual, bisexual, or heterosexual, some can choose to be asexual and then become that way with help from the medicine. If homosexuality is genetic, which I doubt, someday genetic engineers may earn a fortune by changing sexual orientations of their customers.

Would it not kill their sex drive? Any way that we can prevent homosexuals from having sexual urges at all will be a step in the right direction. I admit I'm not sure how we could do this but it would be too easy for homosexuals to simply not take their medicine and we know the societal problems that are caused by this.

I seem to remember Anne Heche marrying Ellen and Heche becoming a super proponent for gay rights. For a couple years she was on various tv interviews about how people are born this way, dont have a choice..blah blah' Then amazingly a few years later, the gay apparently wore off, she got married to a guy and had a kid.
