how important is decline bench press?

got new gym membership closer to home and realized it has incline and regular bench press, but no decline bench. would just getting dumbbells and hopping on a sit up bench work as well?

That's where I do my decline DB exercise from. I'm assuming that the sit up bench you are talking about is putting you in the same position that a decline bench would. I like it a little better than a decline BB bench because I don't have to lift the weights so far in an awkward position.

    Don't tell me what I can't do.

It's not of absolute important, but it could be good. To recreate the decline bench: setup for a powerlifting bench press (deep back arch) and you've got yourself a decline bench.

    Here's a relevant article: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ask-...n-decline.html

Dips in general. Weighted dips only come after one has been doing body-weight dips for a good while. I didn't start doing weighted dips until well after I was already getting tremendous results from doing dips with just my body weight.

I'm not of decline presses and haven't used them for years. Other movements, including dips as mentioned above, target the area nicely IMO.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

Overhead presses of all sorts, incline presses of all sorts, bench presses of all sorts, and dips.

    Decline isn't really that important.
