How many pounds did you lose before people started noticing?
People that did not know you were working hard to shed weight and stuff, how long was it until people started saying things?
I have lost 13 pounds, and thus far, nobody has said a single thing. More disheartening, people that I have told (family members), have not given a friendly complimenting response when I have told them how much I am down. Its like they dont notice. Obviously I am not doing it for them, but I am feeling great about myself and my determination / commitment.
So many pounds did it take, and how many pounds / how tall were you to begin with?
Will rep srs responses.

I have recently gotten some comments along the lines of "have you lost weight?" or "did you get a haircut or something?" (lol). I'm down about 20 lbs from my heaviest, height 5'10".
I think it really depends. I don't think I look that different, but my face does thin out and since I wear clothes that are the right size for me, small differences in how they fit are noticeable.
If I had to guess, in another 10 pounds or so, people will definitely start to notice.

Started at 350 and people really started noticing around 290'ish. After every 5 pounds lost after that, compliments came more and more.

I started at 260; at around 240 people started to say "you look different", but they weren't sure why lol. Then, same as above, every 10 lbs people would comment. At 220 people started saying stop losing weight! Below 200 they kind of stopped saying anything; at this point they no longer thought of me as the "fat" guy

LOL, my weight has been such a roller coaster between about 190-205 for the past five or six years, anyone that knows me doesn't say a damned thing anymore. Let's see what they say when I get down to 175 for the first time since I was about 14
"Then there are sheepdogs," he went on, "and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf."

I think it's a short thing.
I'm 5'8" and just barely now is anyone noticing anything, I'm 25lbs lighter.
Most disheartening thing was after losing 10lbs, going to pool and talking about this diet, and chick friend of mine says something like "Why do you need to diet, you've always looked like this."
I know she was trying to be helpful but FFFUUUU

Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

I started at 350 and it was probably 10-15lbs (3-4 weeks) before I got any comments.
The only people who will make the "wow!" comments are the ones you don't see all that often. The friends and family you see every day will always offer encouragement (or should if they aren't total a-holes lol) but they don't necessarily see the progress as easily since it's subtle daily/weekly changes.

Started at +95kg. I started on holiday, so I rarely meet my friends to know their comments about my changes. I couldn't see changes in my body through 2 months lol.
I dropped around 17kg (stand at 73kg) in 2 months, and it was the first day of my 4th year school registration. My friend who challenged me congratulated me for the weight loss, and I was like wtf what weight loss?
Then, I got home and I realized how different I was. Feels really good.[Watdo?] - Want (''should'' for you naggers) bulk.

it was about 30lbs before i got my first "holy ****!" but then again, i didnt see the guy a while beforehand. anyone that i see everyday really doesn't notice anything difference.
seeing how hes been in india for the past year and the last time i saw him was a year before he left, when he comes back, he probably wont recognize me at all. i mean, hell, i was 230 at that point and i dont think i even started lifting yet
no one at work really says anything since they see me everyday and most of them knew me at my heaviest anyway.February 2009 - 295lbs - never again...

It's going to depend on how much you have to lose and how you dress. If you are still wearing the same clothes it may be hiding your progress.
Personally it took between 20-30 lbs lost before I got comments and I started at 273 lbs. Don't worry though, the comments will come. And then soon you'll be posting about how annoying it is!
I also agree that once you lose the initial weight the comments will increase exponentially as the body fat % drops. But the comments tend to also change at that point from being congratulatory to being more jealous as people tell you, "Don't get too skinny!".
So point is...don't worry about the comments as you will never be able to please other people. As long as you are feeling good about yourself and your accomplishments nothing else matters.

I'd say it depends a lot on your total % change in weight. Bigger people will have to lose more to be noticed. Plus, if you're wearing the same clothes you can hide the changes.
This year no one seemed to notice the first 20-30 lbs, but now I'm getting comments a couple times a week, especially from people I haven't seen in a month or so.Highest, 2008 --- 325 lbs
March 16 2011 --- 302.5 lbs
April 16 2011 ------ 282 lbs
May 16 2011 ------- 274 lbs
June 16 2011 ------- 261 lbs
July 16 2011 --------- 252 lbs
August 16 2011 --------254 lbs (diet break)
September 16 2011 ----- 242 lbs
