    Stronglifts 5x5 question

I have been cutting a decent amount of weight this summer but im getting slightly weaker in my bench. And before that i hit a plateau of 245. Since cutting i got 240 but i feel like its getting harder. If i add in stronglifts 5x5 bench routine on my chest day will i be able to maintain whats left of my strength or maybe break through the plateau? Also where should i start weight wise. It said take 30% off your 5rm which would put me at 150 for the first week. That seems low and not very productive, I was thinking at starting at like 165ish maybe 170

I'm on madcows 5x5 now. Start where it says you should start; if you start too high it will be ridiculously difficult to continuously go up in weight while performing every rep with proper form. After just a few weeks you'll definitely see an increase in your bench.
