Transitioning to what? A Sweep? Usually you need proper hand placement and use your hips correctly

Hip escape and put your feet in hooks guard, butterfly guard or on hips.

Thanks all, kind of a good help out. I'm finally learning BJJ after a year of exploring MMA, it is a complete new ball game to me.

Hi all, first post. Want to post transformation thread but need 50 post so I figure may as well start here as I compete in Judo/BJJ.

I assume you are talking about when you have your opponent in your guard.

    Notes for guard

    1. Shrimp - Hip movement. Do not allow your opponent to stack you.

    2. Control. Maintain control of your opponent's wrists & head. Constantly attack their neck!

    4. Break their posture. Don't allow them to get a good base up, you can do so with head control.

    5. I think this might be a tad too advanced, but underhooks/overhooks are your friend!

    6. Never remain stagnant, always be active in attacking. Don't spaz out, but threaten with submissions to keep them off balance & do not allow them to posture up.

There's plenty more, but at this stage it's best to practise the basics. I am far from an authority in this subject but I do consider myself to have a fair bit of experience in grappling. Thanks for letting me share.
