Another sad day. The successes of al-Qaeda are truly like ripples on a pond. Long before any details were known, radical Islam was blamed for the attack. This, no doubt, will fuel generic hate for Islam in general and further polarize people that may have been sitting on the fence or just curious before.
No matter what, the civilized world will lose from this dastardly attack. Very, very sad indeed. It further contributes to our own immunity to the horrors of the modern world. Does anyone remember the Hinderberg broadcast? The sheer terror in the broadcaster's voice? The description of the epic fail? A total of thirty-six individuals perished in that... no one deserves to die before their time, but if you listen to the audio, you'll see how far we have fallen....

Apparently the shooter was a Norwegian national, not an Al-Queda terrorist.
@ Kyle: I am against terrorism; not against Muslims or the Arab people, being half-Syrian myself. In this case it seems I and a few others were mistaken in our conclusions...my apologies.
Terrible...I don't pray much, but I hope the families of those victims are all right...

Could be worse, we could use it as a justification to invade a country who had nothing to do with it, but who happen to share a religion and race with the actual perpetrator.
Hmmm, can we think of any countries with a lot of right-wing fundamentalist Christians who preach violence against peaceful socialists who favour gay marriage and abortion? Maybe one with weapons of mass destruction, eh?
Or maybe, just maybe, we could get our hands off our genitals as we furiously masturbate to all the political drama, set aside our bullsht ideologies for once, and just let the poor Norwegians mourn their dead, offering our help and sympathy.

There is absolutly no bigotry in my post whatsoever. The concept of Jihad has motivated certain groups to go to war or just slaughter innocent people of all faiths including their fellow Muslims. If you don't think that is a poisoness ideology, I really don't know what to say.
At one time, Christians burned people at the stake, are you going to say that wasn't poisoness to humanity and any criticism of the ideology that fostered such behavior is bigotted? I have nothing against people who wish to live in peace and could care less about how they view the world metaphysically. I do hate those who wish harm upon innocent people for any ideology. What I posted is as relevant today as it was before we knew and was relevant in the First Milinium.
Please keep in mind that Jihad groups did claim responsibility for this event.Last edited by NYkarate; 07-23-2011 at 06:40 AM.

As I said before, I am against the perpetrators; not the people they happen to belong to.
Wikipedia:
"Universalism in its primary meaning refers to religious, theological, and philosophical concepts with universal ("applying to all") application or applicability."
In a broader sense, it refers to the elimination of distinction between beliefs, customs, individual expression, etc and a gathering of every person into a melting pot of sameness. It's a patently offensive idea, to my mind.

I'm against allowing Muslims immigration to West because they bring terrorism. Why USA need them. Only 1 from 1000 is terrorist but if we ban 1000 we will ban right one to. I don't hate Muslims and wish them best, no way I wish them dead. Just don't wish them and theirs ninjas wife around me. Can you above all write something clear like this instead of talking round and round. I don’t think all people and religions are same. I would like se Germans, Swede and Japanese around me because they make money trough real manufacturing and have low criminal rates. If we would have manufacturing industry like in Germany and not countless IT and stock brokers we would be capable to have state medical and countless another things.
I LEARNED CLEAR SPEAKING FROM BALKANS POLITICIANS FROM ERLY 90ties AND LATE 80ties. That crew of clear speakers is all dead now. All today politicians talk lot but say nothing.Last edited by bbsitum; 07-23-2011 at 08:20 AM.

Lots of buzzwords in the media's reporting on this guy.
1. He was a "Christian" eh? What church did he belong to? What does his pastor or priest have to say about it? Do his fellow church members pose a threat? What does his denominaton teach?
2. "Right-wing". Okay, I guess since he shot up a communist youth camp they can go ahead and just assume that much.
3. "Fundamentalist"? Okay, let's see his profession of faith and let everyone judge for themselves. Just because they've made us all agree that Muslims who believe strongly in the fundamentals of THEIR religion go around killing mass numbers of innocents doesn't mean those who call themselves Christian are even remotely familiar with the basic - fundamental - teachings of their religion, much less strongly committed to them.
But of course the lamestream media will never even address those questions. Easier to continue using this tragic horrible incident to further their campaign of hatred and bigotry against all those who follow Jesus Christ. And few people will even have the courage to call them out for it.Overweight and arrogant

The media outlets CHOOSE to allow themselves to be used in this manner. So I hold them fully accountable for their choice of words.
Sometimes even something as simple as punctuation can make all the difference. For example the Drudge Report simply and IMO rightly adds a question mark at the end of the headline saying the perp is a right-wing fundamentalist Christian.Overweight and arrogant

I don't care if you're Christian, Muslim, Atheist or Satanist. If you think you are right and everyone else is stupid, you're arrogant and a fool. The world is far too complex for anyone to claim absolute posession of truth. I have no problem with anyone believing anything, as long as their beliefs don't include the slaugher or persecution of others.

So, you know for a fact that no person can know absolute truth? Isn't your claim that nobody can know absolute truth an absolute truth claim itself? It is, and therefore it invalidates your own statement, no offense.
IMHO, one can examine the world religions and rule some of them out as having little relative value.
