Had my first "real" leg day last weekend. The most exciting parts were goblet squats and leg press with some pitiful weights. I'm taking things really slowly.

I don't believe there is any such word as pitiful when it comes to recuperating from an injury or an illness...all progress is good progress!

Hang in there. I am just getting back to squatting myself after a left knee injury. I hit 205 x 4 the other day. Nothing to impressive. But I was just doing the bar for two weeks about 5 weeks ago

Welcome back to "it hurts so good!" Goblin squats, huh? I've never tried those - not sure my gym even has goblets. I've done goblet curls - goblets of wine of course. As LBM says, all progress is good. You might think they're pitiful, but I bet you're moving respectable weight - and it's just going to get better.

Don't get me wrong, things are better. When I wake up and realize I don't have to be poisoned that day I smile. When I eat breakfast and the food tastes like it should I smile. When I walk out the door without my foot immobilized I smile. When I go to the gym I smile. etc etc

Wow, you just seriously freaked me out. I haven't written an update in weeks. I just finished posting an update in my blog and when I popped into the misc seconds later this was at the top. Are you some sort of wizard?

Here's what I wrote: "It's amazing what a difference a year can make. *Night and day difference from where I was then. *Nothing major to report, which is a huge deal for me. *Right now I'm enjoying my training, enjoying not being tied to any treatments, enjoying my summer, enjoying the people that are important to me, etc. *Just enjoying life and taking in every day with full appreciation. *There's no guarantee things will remain this way but for right now I'm making the most of it."

The good news is that my doc says that I'm doing great. All of my tests/checkups/etc turned out with the best possible outcome. They see me every couple of months, but in between those visits I've been pretending like nothing ever happened.

The bad news (which isn't bad news) is that the early summer port removal was what I assumed was going to happen. As with everything else that's happened, my prediction was totally wrong. The port isn't coming out anytime soon as a precaution. :-/

Dude- you're alive and lifting. There's a small cadre of us that take the Rep 9 think seriously (* and props to Bando for getting that ball rolling!). I think we need some 80's Heart to put this into perspective-

After all this time I thought you were over&done with that!

Dont let the port distrub you dude... I STILL have mine... simply because Ive been waiting for a 'definitive clear'...
As much as I dont want it there... Id rather leave it if they might need it again... NO COLLAPSED forearm veins for ME!!
I have what will likely be my last CAT scan the 3rd week of Aug... once it is pronounced 'CLEAR' I will tell them to schedule the port removal.

As much as I appreciate how little the chemo actually bothered me physically, it did a Royal Rumble mentally and Im STILL working to fix it. Getting rid of that port will (I hope) be the 'final suture' in the wound that is my head.

I feel like I should be able to press it and immediately have DIRECT contact with the White House or something.
