Thought this would be an interesting discussion... was wondering which food surprised you the most with it's macro breakdown when you started counting calories or you just never paid attention to... For me #1 Bleu Cheese Dressing - I was shocked when I saw the high fat content and it's basically all fat which I guess shocked me .. I realized there would be some days I used to eat 100g+ of fat from bleu cheese dressing alone ( yes I was obsessed with it, especially dipping fries in it mmm )... Might be a shocker but my #2 surprise was chicken ... honestly before I paid attn to macros I thought there was a lot more protein per ounce... Anyways post here if you feel like participating!

I've always had a pretty great grasp of food macros. So I'm not too fun in this regard.
However, I was surprised at just how macro friendly some 'junk' food can be. McDonald's have some pretty fantastic products in terms of fat/protein/carbs.Make A Meal Of It App: http://makeameal.co

Definately Avocado. had a salad a few months ago as a side dish to a main meal and casually threw in two avocados as I hadn't had them in a while.
Looked up macros after and was just like "550 calories. The fu*k."
I knew they had some fat in them but damn. That's almost a quarter of my cutting calories.

-Cookie mix (srs). A couple of nights I had it as sludge thinking it'd have a similar calories:gram ratio as whey sludge, but the macros coming from carbs instead of protein - I was very, very wrong. So much fat/calories.
-Chinese five spice
-Rolled oats. Brb having same calories as kids cereal, I'll take the cereal thanks.
-Nestle Diet yogurt. Was surprised at how little calories it had per gram.
-I recall being surprised the amount of fat chicken breast had despite it being quite well regarded as a lean meat (although now I suppose it is quite lean in comparison to what I usually eat).
-Kangaroo. Always knew it existed in Aus but never knew how good the macros were.
-Pumpkin. Didn't know it was so low kcal per gram.fluglotse

Hummus!!
One tablespoon is crazy! When I do a shawarma sandwich i usually put a ton of hummus in there. The calories adds up pretty fast.
Lol at pepole who eat hummus because it's "healthy"!
Ice cream calorie are not bad for the serving. If you are searching to fill ur fat and carbs without filling your protein thats gthe way to go!

I was shocked with things such as nuts, raisins, and things that are generally mass marketed as being healthy etc. Also sweetcorn I eat a lot of veg and for some reason it always stuck out as being more calorie dense than the green veg. Was pleasantly surprised with things such as chicken, lean steak, eggs during my first 8 month cut.
