What's the MISC opinion on pipes? "Loud pipes save lives" or are they too obnoxious for you? I have Two Brothers shorty exhaust on mine, it's ridiculously loud at mid/high RPMs. In town it echoes bad if I don't keep it out of low/mid (~4k) revs. But it sounds so good at idle or high rpms, I don't mind wearing ear plugs. Believe me, you NEED ear plugs for that sound.

I have cobra pipes. They are really loud, but sound really good as well. I was meeting some friends at the top of a parking tower and as I got closer to the top, they said they could feel the vibration through the concrete. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them. I like loud.

I'm undecided on "loud pipes save lives". I have heard bikes coming sometimes but not often do I hear them before I see them. My exhaust is too loud (wouldn't pass roadworthy check) but only by 4db. I wouldn't go for an extra loud exhaust because it's loud, only if I like the sound (the note rather than the volume).

Most people are nervous as fawk before it, dont be
in mine we went over the test questions together after, and every person in my class passed even an old ****er.
I went two points over in mine because i popped the clutch and went out of the figure 8 box and put my foot down on the final test, and they passed me because i did great during all the drillsFiguring things out for yourself is practically the only freedom anyone really has nowadays. Use that freedom.

Had my first riding class today. Everything was good except for I dumped the clutch on accident in the first hour of class. But the bikes are small so I just stood up and the bike went on for a few feet

Do you enjoy your Maxim? I'm looking for a first bike and there's a local dealership selling an '82 for $600. Looks decently clean for an old bike in the pictures. I would prefer something like a Ninja 250 (mpg and insurance), but the average used 250 right now is going for ~$2300 locally.

They are both sh!t, srs.
CBR's have all gone around the clock and are models from like the late 80's but complied early 90's or 00's
Get a ZZR 250 for cheap (think $3kish) then upgrade, or get a CB400 and keep it for a while.
All LAMS bikes suck, so just get the cheapest new to you bike, and worry about learning to ride and saving for your next one.

Hey guys, bit of a noob here :| Anyway I have a while to go on my provisional licence (not allowed big bikes for a certain time here in aus)
Anyway I have a question as im looking at getting a new bike in the near/mid future. Which of the 4 japanese bikes would you have and why? (I like the jap bikes more than the others just from personal preferance) The Yamaha R1, Honda CBR1000rr, Suzuki GSX-R1000 or the Kawasaki ZX-10... I really like the Honda fireblade and im leaning towards it, my dad rides the big hondas and he loves them. I think its just a bit of a personal bias thats leaning me that direction but I would really like some input from guys who have experience on the others. I know the gixxer trumps the others on power and the R1 is probably the nicest looking of the bunch. Never really been a big fan of Kawasaki for some unknown reason lol but im more than willing to have an open mind.
Something like this is what I really want (most likely second hand, but a quality second hand bike not a thrashed one) :P
Ayrton Senna R.I.P > The greatest ever.

*Scotch Crew*
*Piss in the shower crew*
*Take dumps and mush it down the drain in the shower crew*
*Squirt spa jets up my anus crew*

They're all fine. Get whichever makes you happiest (seat height, appearance, comfort, power curve etc.). The best way to decide is by test riding them, you'll notice if the R1 is uncomfortable or if the CBR feels heavier (just examples). I would recommend getting a newer (not necessarily brand new) bike because they are lighter than 10 years ago and its easier to handle.
