Injectable B Vitamins Vs. Oral, Reps for answers

For maximum absorption and bio-availability would injecting, say, B12 be a better option? Pros & Cons of both?

Am I remembering correctly that B12 injectables are only done once a month at a DV of like 75,000% per injection?

That's for extreme deficiency & lethargy, but they are available at much lower dosages available for injection. And I thought maybe 3 times a week on a low dosage (compared to the 75000) would boost my energy etc.

    Repped anyway

Ive heard people talk about it, when theyre extremely deficient and I couldnt understand how that much could be injected once a month and have a positive effect. Unless it gets stored in the body instead of excreted. Wish I could be more help but Im kinda curious about the subject too.

That's what I thought. Surely lower dosages at more regular intervals would be better? I mean the % is ridiculously high if it can't be stored and could perhaps cause more harm than good. Glad I'm not the only one interested, hopefully someone will know the answer

The injectible b12 is cyanocobalamin, which is the improper form.

At my clinic with a b12 deficiency, we start 3 shots the first week, then 1 shot/week for 3 weeks, then once monthly.

People around these parts swear by b12 injections. Ive considered starting them myself.

    i used "Methycobal" .. it's B12 alone
first thing was 1 injection day in day out, it has 50microgram of B12.. then 1 injection every week
but i recommend you get ur B12 levels checked to get a better answer about how much you really need

How do you know if you are deficient? Can this be found looking at typical bloodwork?

My symptoms were the tingling as you mentioned, HORRIBLE fatigue, weight loss and loss of hunger, and just very poor circulation in my legs. Getting out of bed was hell.

Right after I had posted, I considered rewording/replacing typical with basic 'one year physical' type of blood work. According to a following poster, I don't have any of those symptoms. Thanks

I believe an easy well to tell is to take some B12 in the form of methycobalamin and if you get a boost of energy then it means you are deficient.

Yep, hard to find also. Usually sold in it's rubbish form

This could be deceiving, as a big amount of any B vitamin will give a boost, perhaps blood work is the best way to tell? I'm considering getting some.

Methylcobalamin is what you want for injection.

There's a variety of reasons to use an injection - pernicious anemia is one, there are others. For some people, they can't absorb B12 via the oral route, for them, injected B12 is a lifesaver.

The body needs B12, nerve damage occurs with prolonged deficiency.

My wife does it regularly - 25mg injected (25mg/1mL) sub-cutaneous. You can use an insulin needle (28g 1/2") and it doesn't hurt.

We get ours compounded by a local compounding pharmacy, and it is preservative-free. It's not terribly expensive, and if you keep it refrigerated, it will last a while.

Extra B12 is excreted - so don't be alarmed if you have pink piss.

BTW, 25mg of B12 injected is a pretty high dose, most people wouldn't need that much, I don't think. Go talk to your doc, get a blood test, and go from there...if you are mildly deficient, perhaps oral B12 supplementation is sufficient.

Yes it's much better no contest. Cyanco needs to be converted by the body for use. Methyl does not. I know people that just use injectable methylco for their pre workout and love it
