I'm new to this forum but I want to toss my hat into the ring. I'm doing the 100K Transformation challenge and this could be the added motivation I need to help me make my goal. I don't care if I win the big prize I just want to get my weight down to 240 and have the same strength I had at 313. I'll be making my entry in the next week or so.

I keep platuagh at 325 x 4 reps. Strength goes up and down but once I hot 325 x 4 or 365 x 1 cant seem to rise above it. My 225 max on a good day is 15-19 reps.

Thumbs up The Official 2013 Ov35 Bench Press Thread! - 1st Half

The Official 2013 Ov35 Bench Press Thread! - 1st Half

Post your intention to join the comp by April 30, 2013.

Post your entries with a clear video.

    - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs.
    - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist wraps & belt are OK though)
    - obviously can be either gym or competition lifts.
    - press can be either paused or TnG (Touch N Go) but no bouncing.
    - spotters can help with racking/unracking only. Full press must be done with no assistance.

    Classes:

    - Ladies

    1st group Up to 124lbs

    2nd group 125-145lbs

    3rd group 146lbs and over

    - Men's

    1st group up to 175lbs

    2nd group 176 - 210

    3rd group 211- 240

    4th group 241 and over

    - Masters Class (60+ in age)

The winner of each class will be the lifter who posts a vid of the heaviest completed lift.

In the event of a tie, the lighter lifter of the two will win

Like the other comps. this will run until the end of June (June. 30, 2013) and cut-off for new entries will be April 30th 2013. All entries must be 1-rep and caught on vid. All vids must between the dates of this month (February) until the end of June. 2013

Edit: I was able to get a commitment for mod reps for the winners.

Yeah, just post an opening video to state your intention, it doesn't have to be your actual max. Then you have until the end of June to post your best lift.

Thanks man, I felt like I was in a zone and wondering if I was going to nail that 345, lol. My biggest improvement yesterday was with breathing, in on the down and out on the up. I used to hold my breathe for heavy singles but I think I like that strong exhale better. I don't know, Wendler mentions he holds his breath in his 5/3/1 book and I think that actually helps me on deadlifts and squats but maybe not on bench. It's something I'm going to pay close attention to. I know the Valsalva maneuver can cause blood pressure spikes but my blood pressure has been doing great lately; I had a 114/74 last week.

    Awesome Rocky!

Really looking forward to your vids man. How's your training been going?

This just might turn into a bench clinic with the heavy hitters committing.

Scored 245 x9 today.. pretty happy about that..
    230 x12 last week..

My goal of pushing a 1rm of 315 by my birthday in April, is becoming a reality. I may very well have this mid-late March. Pretty stoked.

I plan on participating. I have a video on my PR on my space but don' think I can post links here yet (??) Went to 225# not very good form and likley need to come further down for this event but just starting on free bar benching. I had aimed for a goal of around 250 x10 reps by the end of the year
    youtube.com/watch?v=O8Bbgk-Rxoc

What does " No shirted benching" indicate??

Is there a weight class lower than 175 for men? I could be down to 145 by april 30. If not can we please make a new weight class. 30 pounds is a lot to give up.

Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.
