Should I have my whey with water or milk right after my workout? I've read(on bb.com) that by having whey with milk it slows down the absorbtion\digestion speed of whey. So would that mean that milk isnt a good idea(cuz post-workout ur body needs protein fast)? On the other hand lots of ppl. seem to have their whey with milk (including Big Cat, i think).
Confused I am.

Other times, when you want a slow release of protein over a period of time, milk is fine.

Why are you drinking whey 1st thing in the morning? It's better utilized post-workout, IMO. Maybe try oatmeal with some fruit or nuts.God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill today because they pissed
me off.

indeed, a breakfast should follow a bit later on, after having done some abs, taking a shower, dressed up.
taking fast absorbed protein or amino acids upon waking up bring you back from a 7-9hours catabolic state (though diminished by the bedtime casein or multiprotein shake).target:220lbs (I'm 5' 11)

Whey isn't a bad idea first thing in the morning to get yourself out of a catabolic state. It should be followed up with a whole food meal an hour or so later though.

dude thats one of the dumbest comments ive heard from you on this board. whey as we all know is a very fast acting, digesting protein. so there are 2 primary times to take whey protein, and that is to BREAK-FAST and POST-WORKOUT. at all other times i try to get real food. btw of course have your oats and fruits at breakfast time also and eggs if you want. but whey for breakfast is a great time.Last edited by derekmac; 06-15-2003 at 10:56 AM.

My bad. I see now that he is recommending fruit juice and whey. Sorry about that. I need to learn to read"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. now, what I find more effective is as I said, immediately when the workout is finished, take BCAA, vitamin B6, glutamine, with a carbo pump drink, say one scoop with water: that's the fastest you can feed the muscles cells.
20 or 30minutes after, have one scoop of whey powder with apple juice or water
then 30'minutes later, your meal
and 2hours laters , another whey or pro complex shake.
those 3hours post workout supplements and food are essential to maximize the effect of the workout.
that's why training very late in the day isn't so good , on top of hormonal timing ( testosterone is higher in the morning)target:220lbs (I'm 5' 11)
