Me!
We go through a lot of our own meat here but eventually there comes a time when we finally start to run out of venison, and moose roasts.
I'm not farming anymore either.
Anyway, I thought that I might mention this to others. Depending on the time of the year, really good quality beef roasts are cheaper than most other meats out there at the grocery store. People seem to want steaks this time of year and not roasts. Here's an example of what is available. I bought a three pound roast that I cut into steaks myself for under $7.00. That's five good sized steaks for about $1.30 each. The same steaks cut into steaks at the store were $36.00.
Anyway, I am cooking beef a lot here lately because it is pretty much the cheapest meat out there if you look at it right.
Just thought I might bring this food for thought.

I buy a lot of beef at a local Mexican market here in Dallas close to where I work. I love those thin 'breakfast' steaks. They cook up in a skillet in no time, some onion and chile serrano thrown in the mix, 2 or 3 fried eggs with some home made salsa, a couple of corn tortillas. Eso es para chuparse los dedos!

I eat steak 2-3 times/week this time of year and at least once a week in the winter too.
I remember once Metro had Prime Rib roasts on sale for dirt cheap in the middle of the summer and I bought a huge roast then asked the butcher to cut it up into 10 steaks.
Awesome!

A good cheaper way to eat steak that I found is purchasing beef boneless ribs. One rib where I'm at is big enough for 1 portion. You can get 4 or 5 portions for around 5-7ish dollars. I usually eat about 4 or so of those packs a week. The ribs are thick, so I cut them in half for grilling purposes.
Mmmmmm...and enough left over for some good steak tacos for lunch next day!
