# Thread: How many calories is in one shot of vodka?

1. ## How many calories is in one shot of vodka?

How many calories are there in one shot of vodka (40% alcohol, 80 proof)?

I'm getting mixed numbers from 55 kcal to 100 kcal a shot.

2. Probably depends on what kind of vodka

3. Somewhere in the 90-100 range is about right for a normal sized shot. Now if its one of those small shooter cups at a bar with about 2 drops of alcohol and a splash of fruit juice, something in the 50-60 range might make sense.

I have searched all over the internet for this and the answer is really unclear. The most used that I see is 70 calories per shot

5. 1 oz shot = 28 mL
40% alcohol = 11.2 mL alcohol
0.79 g/mL alcohol density = 8.85 g alcohol
7 cal/g = 62 cal

62 kcal per oz of 40% liquor. A "shot" can vary in size and content though.

<----- is quite impressed...

10. Flavored/infused vodka are probably closer to 90-100cal due to sugar content.

11. i thought 1 shot was 1.5 oz? maybe im wrong. guess it would vary though

A shot is 1 oz. A jigger (srs) is 1.5 oz.

It is. So a normal/standard shot is 93 cals.

15. My shot glass is 1.5 oz. That's about 93 kcal. 10 shots = 930 kcal? I don't know if I believe this. Why is it most alcoholics I know are skinny? I don't mean beer drinkers, I'm referring to the alcoholics who drink the hard stuff.

Because they usually only take in 930 calories a day..

I don't think ive ever seen an alcoholic have a full, sit-down meal
