    Do Squats really stunt your growth?

    Ok a friend of mine tells me that the nature of the movement is bad for the knees and that i should avoid the exercise as much as possible. What do you guys think? I mean if i use good form then it shouldn't really present a problem to me, but the mere motion of stunting my growth gives me 2nd thoughts.

    I was 5'7 when i was 15 years old... did my first squat in high school and stopped growing... sucks brah.

    You would have to have diamond muscles and wrecked hormones to restrict growth, this is not true. Benching and flies are bad on shoulders, deads for lower back, same could be said with MANNNNYYY exercises, do them correctly and take your chances.

    A proper Ass-to-Grass squat is the best exercise that you could do for the knees...it strengthens them.

    That said, if you dont have the intelligence to learn to how to that properly, then yes, the squat can be one of the most dangerous exercises out there.
