lol i just validated OP's point IRL, my sister (no picks, **** off) uploaded like 150 pics from our recent trip to italy on ********, knows 5 words of italian, and ate american food the whole time we where there (places are catering to tourists too much nowadays).
me: studied italian language, culture, and history for about a year and a half before the trip, tried like 20 different pastas (nomnomnom) and uploaded 0 pics to FB, i just send my pics in a Powerpoint to relatives/close friends.▩▩▩▩▩ Official Architect of the Misc ▩▩▩▩▩▩

This x 100
I never said anything was cool about staying at hostels and if you consider saving money instead of wasting it on hostels, then fine: that's your opinion. I've researched backpacking for months now and a majority of the travelers agree. Backpacking gives you the ultimate experience because not only is it easier to meet locals, you meet other travelers which calms your nerves or anxiety if you have any. Meeting the locals easier means you get to explore the culture easier and more in-depth.
Who said traveling is only about looking at other monuments? Are you that hard-headed that you can't see the other points of experiencing other cultures, living as they do to understand what makes them the way they are and different from us. Traveling isn't only about staring at the eifel tower and going "Yup, i traveled."
If you have a problem with traveling fine, but don't try giving a bad name to other travelers. If that's their interest, fine. Just like your interests are bodybuilding, I won't make fun of it.

traveling is just a way to break the cycle of our mundane 9 to 5 existences. It has nothing to do with gender. Men get bored too. OP is just a ******* who is jealous
"Why do people insist on creating things that will inevitably be destroyed? Why do people cling to life, knowing that they must someday die? ...Knowing that none of it will have meant anything once they do?"

i like traveling and roadtrips, go a few times per year but I agree with OP. Most people, especially that average female seem to do things like traveling like they are checking things off a list and they seem to enjoy letting people know about their travel more than the act itself.
Here's a good test, next time you have a female friend going somewhere stereotypical, ask them why they chose that destination, when the answer is either boilerplate or non-existant you will understand what OP is saying."I'm not like most girls." -most girls

Travelling is by far the best thing I've ever done in my life. I couldn't imagine life without some travelling to look forward too.
I get the feeling some of you are mistaking travelling for spending a weekend in a city just slightly different to your own. My best experiences were in countries like India and China where the culture is vastly different.
Travelling around medium to long term engaged in different cultures like that is just such a massive experience for the average young westerner that nobody who has ever done it would ever even think of saying anything bad about it. So to everyone hating - try it before you judge, brahs.
But having said that, you do get a lot of ****s who go travelling only to see the whole trip through their 2 inch camera screen. You see them all in internet cafes uploading their photos. It's nice to have a few memories captured but a lot of people do take it too far, and yes, it's pretty obvious a lot of them are doing it purely for 'recognition' or whatever it is that they're chasing. Personally I've taken about 20 photos in a total of 2.5 years travelling. None of them even have me in.

Wow, what a bunch of B.S. OP. you sound extremely ignorant and should probably spend some time traveling yourself. I travel because I was lucky enough not to be born in the U.S, so I got a worldly education that peaked my interest to go traveling and see the world. Traveling is still really high on my agenda. Would you instead suggest we get married, become wife's and reproduce further over-populating the planet. LOL at you. I would HATE to be so ignorant and gender bias you. Hahahahhahaha! Somebody break your heart, son?
Modesty is the most attractive thing on a woman. With that said, don't expect bikini pics of me plastered all over the Internet any time soon :)
