I'm not hating on traveling, per se....just women that use traveling to validate their existence by thinking they are cultured and sophisticated when they're really not.

Not to mention making a 200+ photo album on ******** to show off their crappy photography skills. At least guys have real hobbies (lifting, working on cars, carpentry, chess, etc.) The only "hobbies" most women have is traveling and taking amateur photos of their trip and calling it photography.

Also guys don't nearly care what other people think of them as women do....they live life for themselves, not to validate their existence for others.

it has nothing to do with travelling, or women, just some peoples need to prove themselves. What's much worse than what op described are little ****s in their first year of their philosophy class in college going around regurgitating everything their prof said to try and sound all deep and full of wisdom. These are the same people who ride fixed gear bikes everywhere and wear hipster clothes and think buy eating at small local cafes and sitting in coffee shops that they are out to make a difference in the world.

I personally like learning about different people and different cultures, it's why I like meeting and talking to foreign people.

But taking 1,000 pictures to validate a vacation is imo unnecessary. Enjoy the memories. We take pictures of stuff that is important not every single thing to show off.

Heres some spoilers, you are very unlikely to meet anyone cool, youll get 90% australians who are carbon copies of each other (loud, drunk, obnoxious) (no hate to aussies miscers).. or you will meet "beatnik" sweater-wearing acoustic-twangling eco-****s.. The OK travellers are just as boring as you are (no hate), and locals will generally weather your small-talk (which theyve heard 1000 times) to make a sale. And all 1st world cultures are principally the same. If you want something truly different, go to someplace challenging like the congo rather than ez-mode europe

Why is everyone so jaded?

People here seem to think everyone else is always trying to act better than them. Can't someone go travelling just to learn things for themselves? Does it always have to be about trying to be better than everyone else?

I'm currently contemplating going to south-east asia for 2 months with a few friends and I am doing it because I am interested in south-east asia.

The insecurity here is just sad.

Travelling is great but what really makes you grow is living abroad. That makes you learn so much about life and yourself. Also, I dislike the kind of backpacker who travels halfway around the world only to stay in hostels and watch dvds with other backpackers while they slouch about in ugly clothes and dreadlocks. They think they are really authenthic but the locals just wonder why rich kids can't dress nice.

This is my sister in law to a tee. Actually met up with her and bro in the States. Takes BS photos of everything...myspace angles of a god damn food we ordered. It's a burger and fries you stupid idiot. Take 5 shots in front of the bridge because her hair was messing up in the wind.
