    Protein Shake Morning and Evening

I was just curious how many people drink a protein shake when they first get up in the morning and before they go to bed at night?

Have you seen positive results after starting this routine?

    Thanks!!!

    I don't use any supplements.

As for results, the diet's contribution would come from total daily nutrition and not from magical protein powders.

Why would you want to drink your calories, instead of eating delicious and satiating food?
The above statement/post does not represent the opinions of anyone in real life. This is the internet. Not real life. Anyone who cannot grasp the difference between the two lacks the basic intelligence necessary for survival and should not be allowed to form opinions.

Same as the last two posters, i have a whole heap of whey at my house that i bought in bulk a while back, i have a serving in my work bag incase my packed lunches dont fill me (which is rare)

sometimes i will have the odd shake if my macros for that day are lacking but that is also rare.

Dont depend on supplements, they really aren't needed but i suppose most people figure that out in the end (apart from the owner of my gym who is always telling me about the wonders cell tech did for him... Im sure his stash of dbol and test had nothing to do with his physique)

During the work week I have a shake midday and perhaps one at night when I get back if I'm a little shy in calories. Its not ideal, but it works. I'm sure you're going to hear (and correctly so) that protein from food is better.

    Thanks for the tips!!

I heard that most people drink a morning and night time shake to prevent muscle break down while you sleep and break the overnight fasting.

That muscle breakdown you speak of doesn't commence until 48 to 72 hours of fasting.

Please don't fall for the nonsense marketing of supplement makers.

Yeah, man, its staggering how much misinformation is out there. I've learned a ton in the past few years on this forum. There are certain individuals you shouldn't listen to, but Pug's stuff is gold. The proof is in the anecdotal evidence you'll have after you try it. Check out the nutrition stickies relating to IIFYM too.

No, especially not in the obese or morbidly obese.

Base protein intake on lean body mass and not total bodyweight. Aim for 1.0 to 1.5 grams per pound of lean body mass, going toward the higher end of the range when cutting (especially when CHO and/or total caloric intake is very restricted).*

My sludge at night hits the spot, and keeps me full throughout the night while I am cutting. Like the above posters said though, if you can get your pro from whole foods and stop worrying about the details.

I've always had a protein shake & oats 30 mins or so before bed and don't plan on altering that. For me protein shakes are quick and easy and taste good.

I do eat tuna, chicken, lean ham, cottage cheese aswell to get the protein in during the day.

I see this mistake SO many times, people will take their bodyweight and multiply it by 1.5, and end up eating 300 grams of protein at 180lbs... lol
