John Wayne and Clint Eastwood

I was at a conference call today at work. While waiting for the chairman several of my coworkers started talking about movies and how they are not like the days of Clint and John. I did not chime in on the conversation because quite frankly aside from Dirty Harry I never seen any of Eastwoods old movies and I never even watch not one movie John Wayne starred in.

So one of my co-workers says "Hey John you are quiet don't you like Clint and Wayne?" and when I said I never watched any of their movies, they all jumped on me!

They started with you never seen this movie or that movie and I am like no, no no and they are like wow, you don't know what you are missing these are the real bad asses.

So, am I the only one on here who never watched any of their old movies? I mean my co-workers are dorks, so I am asking here.

Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry Movies are some of the best. He was the original Bad Ass IMO

At your age OP I'm kind of surprised you haven't seen any by now.

Some are really good, some are so-so. The thing about 'older' movies, they're usually at such a slower pace than movies made say, since 1980 or so. Lots of slow parts, people standing around talking. So if you're more used to modern action stuff, you could get bored with some of the older stuff.

I'd say most of the Wayne and Eastwood movies are definitely worth checking out. If you like the cowboy/cop genre, that is.

Well John, you can enjoy them now, for the first time. It will help a lot of you like the guys (as much as you can like someone you have never met) in the first place. There are some Hollywood actors whose movies I will never ever see, for my own reasons.

Rent them, you won't be disappointed! Outlaw Josey Wales is one of the best westerns you will ever see and I'm surprised you haven't seen Gran Torino (2008 movie). One of the best movies around.

Clint is and always will be "The Man"! I can't think of any of his movies that I don't like. Westerns, war time, action comedy(think Any which way but loose) and cop movies all awsome. Even his new stuff is great. Grand Torino is awsome!

Real men, watch the specials like "Movies for guys who like movies" etc. Or Clint Eastwood weekend on TBS, etc. Ironically there is a picture of you photoshopped on a poster of Fistful of Dollars floating around these boards. You should start with that one. I love all the spaghetti westerns. Do yourself a favor, watch Yojimbo, a classic very old Japanese samurai movie(on Netflix instant last I checked), then watch the Clint western version of it. Good stuff.

I've seen most of John Wayne's movies but he was pretty much done by the time I was a teen. I can see why anyone younger that me may not be a fan at all.

Big Jake was one of his last movies when he had his own production company and it's my favorite western of his because I got to see it as a first run film in a real movie theatre.

Outlaw gang kidnaps his grandson; Him and is crew fukk 'em up bad and get the kid back.

The Cowboys = my favorite John Wayne film. Though True Grit was dang good too.

High Plains Drifter is awesome. Clint creates the genre of bad ass in that one.

This guy is right up your alley. i guarantee you will like it.

John Wayne, though, I kinda like. He is either a cowboy or a military guy in his movies. Father in law has a lot of his stuff. I liked the "Cowboys" but I like the sillier ones too like McClintock

I dont know Joel. I dont want to commit heresy here but i dont get mcQueen. He was cool but you have to admit that at certain points in sand pebbles there were a couple scenes where you had to ask yourself if he was somehow a bit slow. i mean his facial expressions and mannerisms just seemed a bit too dumb to me.

Enough to take me out of the moment thats all i am saying.

I have to almost say the same about John Wayne movies. Every scene he was in was of course top notch, like sean connery as bond. It was the actors around him though that really got on my nerves though. the girl in the original True grit. I hated her and was hoping that he wouldnt help her.

The scene where she rides the horse across the river was ridiculous. she is neck deep almost in water and when she gets to the other side, she is bone dry.

In the Green berets there is a scene where the chief is talking to some sailors on an airfield and they all take off running. seems one of the green berets hooked up a helo to ta pallet of supplies and flew off. are we to belive the sailors never heard the helicopter that was about 50 feet in front of them, thats just a stupid scene.

In the cowboys where the boy got killed because he spooked the cows is another one. John Wayne really should have given them better instruction then that so the kid wouldnt be in harms way. i mean come on, he let those kids watch all those cows? Sure it will make a man out of them but they could have woken him up when it got scary.

John Wayne on the other hand is in top form when bruce dern tell him to pick up the gun belt after they got the drop on them. man, the look on the dukes face was priceless. now thats a danger face!!

There's a scene that had my crying in tears almost. There's this snake oil salesmen trying to sell some **** (probably Cell-tech) to Clint saying how it will cure all these diseases and ailments. Clint spits a huge bit of chew spit on him and says with a stern face 'Does it get out stains?' LOL.
