i also think that for size dumbbell bench > barbell bench by a longshot. deeper stretch and muscle recruitment for stabilizing the weight

    plain wrong. it's actually:

No one is disputing that certain forms of bench are good. Notice that everyone is saying BARBELL bench... I think you be hard pressed to find a lifter who did NO form of bench press, but a lot of people solely use DBs because they get a much better pump and/or ROM.

EDIT: Saw your above post. guess you got it now.

squats. Really they cool if your on the misc or with serious lifters, but in real life no one gives two ****s. All people care is upper body mass. I have really big quads naturally and doing squats would just make them more unnatural.

still do deadlift for ego-boost and squats for the hell of it but don't care too much. bench, curl, ohp ftw!

Misc is stupid as phuck mate. Ignore these *******s. Most of them get no benefit from benching as they have zero ROM or bounce it off chest.

no barbell bench is a must in any chest routine. dumbbells have their place but heavy compounds are a must for that muscle density and strength everyone wants. there's a reason arnold looked the way he did. for his early years of training all he did was heavy compounds; it gave him the muscle density others lacked.

like i said dumbbells are great but if you aren't training heavy on chest aka with a barbell then you are not getting optimal results, period

the key to success in bodybuilding and aesthetics is variety and always doing new things to promote muscle growth

id say i dead lift once a month BB bench press once a month about maybe like 1.5 times a month cuz i might do it once one month then twice the next

and BB squat almost never partially due to my back but still if i knew what i knew now i would say it shouldnt be performed by most any more than every other week or even just once a month

People who say deadlifts are overrated because 150-160 lb guys can do 315+ are fools..

Strength can be acquired without gaining mass, your diet is the reason you get bigger, most guys probably eat like crap, but they deadlift a lot, thus they become strong with the movement, but they're not gaining any mass because their diet isn't on point.

But if they were eating at a surplus and had a solid diet and kept deadlifting as much as they do, they'd gain mass (And strength, you can gain strength without a surplus, but it'll be slower, with a surplus of calories, you'll gain strength faster, AND mass).

I mean, you see those bench and curl warriors at the gym who just bench and curl all fuking day, their diet is sh!t, but they're always in the gym benching and curling, and so they become strong at those movements.

Back squat BY FAR !!! srs.

Front squat has more correctional capabilities as an exercise and engages more muscle fibers in your quads.

    Edit:

inb4 back squat purists. watch them get mad.

BTW are we talking about a national average in terms of "overrated" or just by bb.com's standards...because I have no idea why people are saying deads and squats are overrated since noone freaking does them in a generic commercial gym (hell some gyms ban them alltogether)

If professional athletes do deads and squats and it allows them to achieve great feats, I think there must be something to deads and squats, so no they are not overrated.

The most overrated have to be ab exercises in the number one spot, and then any sort of isolated bicep curl (dumbbell/preacher/barbell/cable etc) will be second.

I really do understand why people say barbell bench. It's the hardest lift to perform cleanly. You can squat high, dead lift with a hitch and still get props.. it's easier to look strong with those lifts. Most guys would rather call BB bench overrated and stick to their DB bench using **** ROM, because for some reason it's much more acceptable to stop short on the DB's.

Incline BB Bench > flat BB Bench IMO
Incline and Decline and you don't really need Flat

    lmfao.

Right back squat 300kg upright and come back with your small quads. Front squat does not provide a stressor for most people because their form is ****e to front squat anywhere near your actual strength potential you need silly amounts of flexibility and practice.

Upright Back Squat > Front Squat.

    More weight = more growth.

Back squat engages as much quad fibraz as front squat don't make me dig out the EMG data.
