Ok, so Nate's saying he upped his test as the fight approached on the advice of his doc.

But when he took a test 2 weeks out from the fight his levels were high, so I guess he kept putting it off hoping his levels would reduce to accepted amounts...

He says his levels are fine now, but it was too late

^^^This...Why do I keep hearing about all these fighters that test low on test so they have to take something synthetic to raise it? I thought these guys all had great genetics to reach this level as a professional athlete? I don't know of a single person in my day to day life that takes synthetic test because they tested low. I do know that some doctors will tell patients what ever they want to hear and give them subscriptions for things they may not need. So maybe a "good" doctor is a fighters best friend.

I would say...you tested low on test? Sorry about your luck with bad genetics because we don't allow any use of synthetic test for any reason in this sport.

-New Jersey wanted Marquardt to be off of HRT for ?8-10? weeks, take a test, and see if he has been cured after UFC 128

-Marquardt was not cured after those weeks, still had very low levels when off of HRT.

-Doctor put him back on HRT

-Marquardt's levels shot up a little bit too high

-Marquardt had to come off once he found out his levels shot up a little too high, and had to hope that his levels came to normal by weigh in day.

-The day after the fight, Marquardt's levels were normal

So basically Marquardt was allowed to be on HRT this whole time, but his doctor gave him too much a few weeks before UFC on Versus 4

Yeah, plenty of people have been popped for roids, without even having the HRT excuse. Why is Dana so mad at Nate? For ruining the main event? I don't get it.

I am wondering if Nate wasn't even on HRT, and was using testosterone illegally, would he be able to fight still? I think he would have, and they would have tested him after the fight, but since he was on HRT and the commission knew, I think that is why they wanted to test him before the fight started to clear him.

I think it was more of a knee jerk reaction by Dana due to it ruining the main event, whereas the Thiago vs Vera incident didn't come to light until after the fight.

All of this is a joke. There is no established "norm" for testosterone levels in a man and that is how all of these anti aging DR's get away with prescribing it. There is also no "norm" for HGH and that is how they get away with prescribing that. It is obvious through blood tests when someones test level is way too high and that is how these guys get caught.

This all sounds sensible.

I'm going to train kickboxing for three 90 minute sessions per week.

Then I'll add three 90 minute grappling sessions per week.

Plus I'm taking that advanced submission techniques class on Saturday afternoons.

And I hired a boxing coach so we're gonna work mitts and bags and sparring for two 60 minute weekly sessions.

I'm lifting weights twice a week (upper body and lower body) and I'm focusing on high intensity interval training twice a week and more as the contest approaches.

Between workouts (13 of em every 7 days) I'm maintaining a low carb/low saturated fat diet so my bodyfat percentage stays below 10%.

I'm currently 6' tall and 240lbs with six pack abs.

It's relieving to me to hear that those steroid users are not a part of our sport's line-up. That way, we can follow the protocol above which always works for natural athletes.

Excuse me while I return to recovering from all of the above with some ginseng root tea and a multi vitamin and maybe a light Swedish massage.

Maybe he is the straw that broke the camel's back. It may have reached a point in Dana's mind that he wanted to put an end to it and use him as an example of a stricter perspective on the issue.

Either way what is the max test level allowed? I'm thinking what ever the max is the fighters know this and if they are below the max they get an excuse from the doctor to try to push themselves up to just below the max. After all to win in a sport at a professional level you must push the limits of everything allowed by the rules right? Much like guys using all the gear they can and barely(if at all) reaching parallel on their world record squats. Why go ass to ground when you can go just short of parallel?

LMAO. It very well might be a "bs excuse" for nate, chael and alot of guys in MMA. But low testosterone is a REAL medical condition that many men suffer from, and as you age (30+) it continues to decline your entire life to basically zero. That's why 60+ yr old men cant bang without viagra.

I picture small, broken estrogen filled men with low testosterone, not someone who is sculted out of stone and smashes people for a living just doesn't make sense.

Generally they test Testosterone / epitestosterone ratios and not a max amount which is even better for dopers (epi is available to boost the denominator along with the numerator) but they may also test for a max. Most people for total serum test are between 200-800 of whatever unit (men)

I'm not sure the T/E ratio but most people are around 1 regardless of total test levels and the test I believe 4:1 is the minimum level in the major testing bodies in sports. So basically, you can multiply your test levels by 4x on average and still pass the T/E test I believe.

If there are test for max serum level I can't imagine it is not at least 1500...
