Proportionally I have a somewhat large rib cage. As a result, as I got lean you could see some of my lower ribs anteriorly and to the sides (as you can see in my AVI) underneath the pecs. It's kinda cool because you can see individual serratus muscles and it gives my back a somewhat larger than anticipated girth.

My overall bone structure isn't huge though.
    Lifts:
    Bench: 305lb
    Deadlift: 415lb
    Dip: bodyweight + 230lb
    Pull-up: bodyweight x2

"There's a lot of 5'11 200-225 lbs guys with 10-12% body fat on the Internet. In reality, their "10-12%" body fat is more like 15% body fat or more. Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting. Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think."

Was wondering this too, you always see the large torso fellows being strongman with just a pack of stomach.

But I think Kris gethin is pretty close looking, look at the transformation in that 12 week program posted wherever on here.

My ribcage is also huge yet my arms are of medium build - howcome almost all older men I see have huge forearms (regardless of muscle or not)? They just seem so much wider when they cross their arms in front of their chest.

I'm hoping when I bulk I look like that.

I never considered whether my rib cage or bone structure were big, small, or anything in between.

We really need a better definition if that's even possible. A large rib cage in relation to what?

I actually think having broad shoulders prevents you from looking "skinny"

    You're not 14%. More like 18%....

You have a great base. You just need to lose more fat.

My chest used to be 48". As you lean out that excess chest fat and ab fat is the last to go and as you near 12% and below it really comes off. You'll look a lot better as you cut, but I wouldn't be surprised if you dropped down to 42-43" chest.

Keep working. Drop another 15 pounds and look in the mirror.

OP, it doesn't look as if you have a large rib cage, just need to lean out more.

Not to be a pessimist, but 18% may also be a bit generous as well. I'd have ballparked it in the 20% or higher based on your most recent photo. Good base of muscle under there ... but there's enough fat that it wipes out pretty much all definition.

Like EJ said, wouldn't surprise me if your chest circumference dropped to the 41-42 range by the time you got lean.

Everyone thinks they're on their way to single digit body fat as soon as they see a blurry four-pack in the right lighting. Your final body weight at 5-6% will be a lot less than what you think."

Eh, it's not so bad. I'm 43.5" right now, slowly crawling up to 44". Having a broad chest/back is pretty nice for filling out your clothes. My shoulders/chest bulge in my medium T-shirts, float loosely over the stomach/waist. Back tucks pretty snugly (in a good way) in the sports seats of my little manual transmission pocket-rocket.

heh. yea i am doing the math. if i dont lose any muscle mass i should be at 8% at 195... but going that low i am almost positive i am going to lose a couple of pounds of muscle mass. which i am ok with. i will be doing a 3 month cycle of ec. hopefully i will never have to go this long again..

Once again, not to be a negative nancy, but you likely aren't going to be 8% at 195. Trying to do the math never quite works out. For every 1lb you calculate you'll need to lose ... you're going to have to lose closer to 1.3-1.4lbs of actual weight. 6 feet tall and 8% bodyfat at 195lb bodyweight would be a fairly imposing physique - your lifts just don't reflect that level of lean mass.

Start cutting. Ignore the scale. When you think you've hit 10%, step back on the scale. You'll be shocked how much weight you had to lose to get there.

my lifts havent been recorded for a long time.

ill follow the math that you posted

    i db press 120 x 5 currently.
    i have to zercher squat for 300 x 3.

i have a back injury but js.

    ^^^ This..

Take for example Ryan Reyolds, around 6'2 and around 188 lbs in this pic. You might have to get down to like 180 or less for a six.

I think it's best that people stop estimating their own bodyfat or go by what 3 point calipers say.
