How many times a week should I work out?

Little background info: Recently new to training, been working out on and off for about 9 months, in college so I get busy sometimes. In summer now so I have all the time that I need.
    Weight; 127 lbs
Bicep curl; 20 lbs each arm
Chest press w/ free weights; 35 lbs each arm

Main question would be how many times do I need to work out a week? I read a lot that you only need to hit each muscle group once a week, but I never feel sore for more than 3 days ever. As of now I hit each muscle 2 times a week with the exception of legs, I only hit that once.

    Day 1; back/bicep
    day 2; shoulders/legs
    day 3; chest/tricep
    day 4; rest
    day 5; back/bicep
    day 6; chest/tricep/shoulder
    day7; rest

Do not use that workout split you listed.....look up starting strength. Lift 3x a week and ONLY use the compound lifts. Once you have mastered those and put on some good size, then look into splitting them up more (if you want).
