It should say on the machine. It can be counter-balanced to whatever weight the gym specifies. At my old gym, it was set to 0 but at my current gym it's 15 lbs.

It depends on the machine. The one I use is 25lbs. The weight wasn't listed on the machine, or at least not anywhere that I could find, so I wrote down the brand and model number, and looked it up on the company's website.

*Gasps in horror* I haven't even been counting the bar... Maybe I'm actually squatting more than just the weight of the plates?? Please say yes....
Where on the machine should I look? I think it's a Hammer Strength model.

LOL! I bet you are. On the machine at my gym, it's printed on a label on the inside of the frame. If it isn't there, you might want to ask someone at the gym.

Most gyms I've been to they've been 15lbs. At my current gym it doesn't say, I like the idea of looking up the model online...never thought of that, thanks!

I would say off with the smith and into the squat rack, it'll make you work so much harder and with less weight too!

There are 3 at my gym and they are all 15lb. Usually there is a sticker or tag on the frame somewhere.
