290 lb. powerlifter now runs ultra-marathons
-Spent four years in the Air Force, then spend a few unsuccessful years attempting to break into pro football (weight = 280 pounds)
-Decided to apply for the U.S. Navy SEALS, however the recruiter warned that a man of his size/weight would never make it through the grueling training (also known as "Hell Week").
-In less than three months, he returned to apply weighing 190 pounds and eventually completed SEALS training in 1998.
-Goggins is the only member in the U.S. Armed Forces to complete SEALS training, U.S. Army Ranger School and Air Force tactical air controller training, and has also faced combat in Iraq.
-Runs ultra-marathons (135 MILES IN UNDER 24 HOURS)
--typical daily schedule.--
3:45am -- 15-20 mile run followed by biking to work (25 miles)
8am -- begin work day
Lunch -- brief 4-5 mile run if time allows
6pm -- bike home from work (25 miles) - weight training (with his wife)
Midnight -- bedtime
cliffs:
-guy runs 135 miles in under 24 hours for fun
-we are lazy fukks who complain about elliptical machine cardio being boring
-brb going to the gym

Still has a reasonable amount of mass for someone with that much endurance. A lot of guys with that much endurance are way skinnier than that

the significant part of our sleep cycle is pretty much completed after 4 hours.. considering all the work he does during the day, its not hard to believe he would slip easily into a deep stage of sleep and stay there for most of that period, resulting in 4 hours feeling like 8Originally Posted by Messiahtype

cardio in the gym is boring as hell
cardio outside the gym, marathons, cycling etc are way more interesting.

He most likely only has those short sleep periods during the ultramarathon training and actual marathons.
Either way though, I have a car, if I want to get somewhere 135 miles away I'll do it in 2 hours or so.
