I guess I am on the other side of this equation. I've been with a personal trainer for a while now. We've become good buddies. But I've noticed that he has given huge discounts and even bartered with clients for services. For three years now I've assisted with his company by providing flyers, helping with website development, and other things helpful to the company. When I asked for a discount or barter agreement, I was treated like a theif. Meanwhile his massage therapist and girlfriend (two different people) can workout beside us at the gym and receive advice, spotting, and training for free.

When friends ask about training I give them my card tell them to email me and I will help them out. Once I receive the email I send a bunch of helpful links about training and nutrition then I say if your interested in personal training we can set up a consultation. I do not give discounts to friends, only family.
