A man by the name of Erik B. Scott was killed after Costco employees called the police on him for carrying a concealed weapon.
Here is a site about him...
erikbscott.com
Story:
- Erik is shopping in Costco
- Leans forwards and an employee sees his weapon
- Employee tells him no weapons are allowed in Costco
- Erik informs her that he has a permit for it and will be leaving shortly.
- Employee notifies Costco security
- Security guard calls the cops and makes a bunch of stuff up about Eric being erratic and destroying merchandise. In reality he opened up a pack of bottled drinks to see if one would fit in a carrying case. Totally normal behavior.
- Cops show up, Erik is pointed out.
- Cops, in typical inept police fashion, give him conflicting orders. One tells him to freeze, another tells him to put his hands up, and another tells him to lay his weapon on the ground.
- Erik reaches for something and is shot. Witnesses say no gun was around his body and that a blackberry was a couple feet away from his body after being shot. It's possible that upon receiving conflicting orders from police officers he feared for his safety and decided to try and film the encounter via his phone.
- Police officers shot him several times, and then several more times IN THE BACK after he fell to the ground. All without ever visually seeing a weapon.

Does he look like a dangerous criminal to you?
Gun owners should avoid shopping at Costco lest you want to be shot down by an incompetent police force.

so the officers will be convicted of excessive use of force/manslaughter? that is more appropriate than boycotting costco
I only read thread titles and my own posts.

Private property rights trump your right to carry (yes, NRA member/gun owner). Costco can do whatever the f*ck they want, and if the story is accurate (cops giving conflicting orders), can them all and their bosses and dismember their union.
"Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow - that is patience. Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal. Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness, and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success."

Costco has a right in a free country to set whatever rules they want in their store, moron.
Your argument is like if I was in your house and wouldn't shut up, so you told me to get out, and I told you "derp I have First Amendment Rights!"
did the cops act properly? Impossible to tell from the information in the story. But by bringing a gun onto private property where guns are prohibited, he was already trespassing. And using a gun in the commission of that crime.
Do I agree with Costco's policy? No. But do I respect it? Yes. You are on their property, they have every right to demand you act within their rules./l、
