From my experience, Koreans and Japanese are not easily to get along compared to Vietnamese, Chinese and South East Asians.

They are very tight and generally stick to their own ethnic group unlike the Viets/S.E Asians who are more open to everyone.

I've been in Korea for almost two years now. The exchange rate right now sucks so I'm not making much $ compared to what I was. It was enjoyable for a while but I'm now starting to think about making my exit at some point. I have definitely had some good times here. The xenophobic and closed mindedness can be draining though. Most of my friends here are Korean and they are solid people, but the herd mentality is super strong especially if you are an American and take pride in being an independent thinker.

    Come to China.

    Pros:

    Better money
Way more places to travel to
Chinese food > Korean food (sorry lol)
Chinese are WAY more chill and lax compared to Koreans
    Learn a more useful language

    Cons:

    The air quality f*cking sucks
    Not as developed
    Shoddy construction everywhere
Too many people, everywhere, all the time
Internet restriction is annoying as f*ck
Korean women > Chinese (in general)

I'm an Indian brah. Taught in Uljin/Bugu on the east coast. Very small town with only one a few hagwons. Never experienced any open racism AT ALL.

I remember getting on the wrong bus one day. Ended up at a hot springs about 30 min in the wrong direction. I got off the bus confused as fuk. A group of older hikers (60+ y/o) saw me looking lost and invited me to eat lunch with them. Bought me soju, food, etc.

Then, one of the old dudes (a web designer) asked where I need to go. He drove me 30 mins to my destination. One of the nicest feelings I ever experienced in my life...

Countless stories of Koreans genuinely being kind and accepting to me. They represented their country well, and I'll always remember the good times I had there.

I have been seriously thinking about going to China, but the thought of buildings falling down on my head because of trying to cut corners on construction costs or having to worry if something I am going to eat will kill me has made me rethink. I also HATE crowds of people. I would rather stab myself in the face with a pencil then wait in long lines. I think there are too many people here in Korea whenever I go to something that is remotely popular ( such as the beach in the summer ) so I could not imagine the people in China. I also don't think the money is better in China as a whole.

Repped. I've been vacationing in Gangnam for the past couple months and I can personally say knowing the language is HUGE for anyone considering visiting here. The locals know basic English but they're extremely proud of their language and don't like speaking English if they don't have to. I'll be learning Korean when I get back to the states for the next time I visit the country.

Sup guys just wanted to say hey. I just moved to Daejeon, Korea from the US a few weeks ago and have been looking for group/forum to talk to others and stumbled across this thread which seems to be the best I've seen so far. Bored out of my mind here and don't know anyone. Wish I could find a quick hookup or something lol. Anyone around here?

thanks man. I checked out the clothes they have on that site and im mirin hard. I'm wondering though about the sizes. I know if you order form aliexpress and the likes, they say you should order 1 size up becuase they run quite small. I wonder if it's the same here

Kpop stars look like *******s. Srs

What is yalls favorite bars and clubs in Seoul?

    Hongdae
    - Mikes Cabin
    - Thursday Party
    - Somos (Latin)
    - Joons
    - Zen
    - FF/Gogos
    - Gogos2
    - Lux (better for black guys)
    - NB2 (mostly korean ppl but western music)

    Itaewon
    - Thursday Party
    - JR Pub
    - Bulldog (latin)
    - Helios
    - Gold Bar
    - Prost/Glam
    - BOne
    - UN

As you can tell I dont go to predominately Korean places with techno/edm. Much better results in foreigner bars and clubs where the Korean girls there go because they like Western style and or men.

Any places I didn't mention you guys like or have decent success from?

I wasn't gonna say anything but you're 100% right lol. Those K-Pop guys are some of the fruitiest looking dudes I've ever seen. I've only been here a couple weeks but it seems like all the guys shop at the same store and same with all the girls. Do they all just copy each other or something? It's bizarre to me but maybe I'm just a dumb American.

Was in Seoul for 5 months on exchange, and to be honest I am never going to Korea again.
The exchange was fun obviously, but I've been travelling a lot in Asia: Korea, Japan, Phillipines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Burma, Singapore and Malaysia.
Out of all those countries Korea was the worst to stay in.

Boring culture, people are shy, afraid of conflicts and a lot of the elder are racists. Plastic surgery / 10.
Pollutional air, which is groce to stay in during longer periods of time. Also ruins the view points of many hiking areas and other tourist attractions.

The worst was the food, I usually love Asian food, but kimchi and other **** they have in Korea is really disgusting imo.

South East has so much more to offer in terms of culture, food, attractions etc. imo.

    Here's Korea in a nutshell:

The most superficial society in the world. It's all about image- what you wear, how you look, etc. Everyone knows about the plastic surgery craze here. The young people here are just terrible and they're everywhere. They all copy each other and most are obsessed with how others perceive them instead of just being themselves which is sad. In general everyone here is just cold, rude, and totally non social outside of their cliques. I've seen people fall off bikes, trip on stairs, stumble on streets and not a single person would stop and help not a SINGLE person. This just blew my mind cause I've never seen this kind of behavior in America.

Food is hit or miss. Some places can be amazing but most are pretty crappy, typical Korean food and lots of these little restaurants are kinda dirty. Most places are cheap though which is a big plus here. If you like coffee/tea there's a cafe on every street so that can be cool but most are kinda pricey. Every time I've been here I've had stomach issues cause of the food but maybe that's just me. Yes, air quality is balls. Every time I go out all I smell is smoke, gasoline, trash, Korean food, and the worst of all sewage. It's sad when you can't even go out and take a deep breath of fresh air lol. I've never been to Seoul but I'm sure it's even more horrendous there.

The one thing I like is the walking. If you're living here you're gonna walk a lot and that's a good thing. Public transportation is pretty convenient and cheap and getting around is pretty easy so that's a plus. The other side to that is that streets are always busy, drivers are crazy, and if you're not careful you can easily be killed trying to cross the streets. You'll see more idiots run red lights here in one week than you'll probably ever see in the states.

    In to read and learn.

I've had cousins who got chitty American degrees and went on to South Korea to teach English and said they loved it. It's always been in the back of my mind.
