    Peanut Butter before bed?

Having done some searching on pre-bedtime meals, I've come across peanut butter and milk before bed, several times. I have been drinking whey and milk, but somebody made the valid point that whey digests too quickly, and thusly not effective for nighttime. So, has anyone eaten peanut butter and drank milk before bed while on a cut? If so, how much peanut butter and milk?

    - not a valid point

    - 24 hour energy balance, and macro targets are what matter most

    - eat what u want, as long as the previous bullet is in order.

Beat me too it. I sometimes eat a serving and a half before bed and still lose weight for the week.

I LOVE peanut butter haha what qualifies as a "tablespoon." Does that mean you scoop it and slide a knife across the top to have just a level scoop, or do you just eat as much will fit on the spoon haha? There's a fair amount of fat in it, that's why I ask.

a food scale will be far more accurate as a normal '2 tablespoon serving' will be more than the 32 grams it is supposed to be

^This... I woke up in the middle of the night last week and ate "a few tablespoons" of PB. The next day, I weighed the jar I opened and compared it to an unopened jar... the result was ~ 1,200 calories! It adds up quick with PB!

And peanut butter is just another cluster of carbs I don't need in order to sleep.

i'm experimenting with my diet trying to find that perfect thing that works for me

i get the ground up honey roasted peanut butter from real peanuts and working with it to put it somewhere in meals throughout the day

i personally like 1 small spoon in the morning along with a protein shake 50 grams of protein and an avacado - i don't know if this is good for my morning meal but i am trying it right now

on work out days before bed i am trying 1 spoonful of peanut butter with half a cup of fat-free almond milk if i am hungry...

i am trying to keep my metabolism up as i feel hungry sometimes before i go to sleep and feel horrible in the morning

i consider myself a horrible dieter but hitting the gym regularly for strength training (4 times a week) - still figuring all this crap out...I am at 19% body fat but have dropped 3% since July 4th 2013. Trying to get to 15% as fast as possible hopefully by the end of the year - i am realizing it is all about the diet...

saw a previous poster say ice cream - how do you manage that? 1 cup before bed ? that has to be horrible in sugar and saturated fat...

take some benefiber with your whey if you want it to slow digestion. Maybe a scoop of PB. Casein is better if you can afford it.

PB throughout the day is great at curbing hunger. A spoon here, a spoon thee. Dont' go overoard cuz those calories add up. Better to eat PB to curb hunger than eat bigger meals. I'd lose the milk.

Just make sure that it fits into your macros. I plug my two tablespoons of peanut butter and casein shake into my macros in the morning that way I can determine what i will need to eat throughout the day, but yes eating that before bed is a very good idea. We work to hard to build muscle to let it break down at night. The casein protein fuels your muscles throughout the night and the fats in the peanut butter further slows your digestion while you sleep. Its deff something to look into.

The broscience is strong with this one.

Do you guys think all these first-post, recently-created accounts that bump dead and gone threads are just people trolling us? I can't decide.

It's kind of a damned if you do damned if you don't thing. If someone starts a new thread about a common topic they get reemed out for not using the Search function, but then if they use the Search function they get reemed out for bumping an old thread. Can't have it both ways

Guy didn't ask a question though. He just answered an OP from 3 years ago and added nothing new.

Okay, old thread, but can someone explain the point of eating right before bed? What does it matter when you eat it?

It doesn't. Old broscience myth that your body catabolizes your muscles during sleep because you're not consuming any calories/protein.
