you can install yourself and save $100-$200.

if you just want bass, ~$300.

if you also want quality sound, good speakers will run you another ~$200.

    To Op,

I used to have a 96 caddy deville (big trunk space) I had a one 12" type-R alpine sub and it rocked the whole car and was sooo loud. It just depends on your box measurements.

I would go with some size Alpine Type-R
Pioneer (I know its common) deck.
I would go with either a phoenix gold or memphis audio amp.

I have been out of the car audio loop but that's what my set-up would be.

That wouldn't cost more than $500 if you seek ye shall find good deals. (I did)(ebay is your friend)

If you do it yourself w/ used equipment, $250 - $500

    DIY with new stuff $500 - $800

Get it done at an audio shop, $800 - $1200

Of course, you mostly get what you pay for.

I roll 2 Alpine Type-R's with a 1600 watt Hifonics Amp in a box I built and wired myself. Looks awesome and I couldn't be more satisfied.

Amp/sub costed me about $100 from ebay
    New stereo unit was $450
    New speakers $120
    Cables/cords/adapters $150
Install was $80, couldn't do it all myself

So $900.... SHIET... just realized how much money I blew on sound.

Lol if you think one type-R is enough to rock the whole car mine would probably make your ears bleed. That ain't that loud bro, especially in a Deville (thick and heavy as **** w/ little airflow).

You can have a good system without subs, however. I would recommend Kicker L7 Solo-Baric subs. depending on trunk size, 12" if you are looking for lows, maybe 8"-10" if you are looking for mids. As far as a head unit goes, you can get a solid Pioneer in-dash for $70-$100 on Amazon. Make sure you read up on things before you buy. Infinity makes some of the best door speakers/tweeters.

Any ~$100 head unit will be fine. You should be able to find one that plays mp3 cds, has a USB input and 3.5mm jack on the front. Usually a remote, too.

For front speakers, I like the Infinity Reference series. Great sound, great price.

For the rears, I do Alpine Type-R's. Good bass, good price.

That's ~$250 for a more than decent setup.

For subs, it's a real tossup, man. I had a pretty big setup that was 2 12" Alpine Type-R's with an Alpine PDX 1.1000. POWERFUL amp. I used to have friends sit in the back seat and get a full body massage.

I also had an Eclipse 10 inch sub with a 300 watt Eclipse amp. The bass wasn't crazy, but a lot cleaner.

Smaller subs for cleaner sound. Bigger subs for dat bass. Your choice, brah.

well for that goal you need atleast:

    headunit $200-300
    front components (60w+ rms) $200-400
    Subwoofer (400w rms) $150-250
    2-channel amp $200-300
    mono amp $200-350
    wiring kits(2) $80-150

build your own box, and install everything yourself. Also sites like sonicelectronix, or techronics, often sell equipment well below msrp, you just don't get the manufacturer warranty on some brands(focal and such).

look at the brand Boston Acoustics, focuses on sound quality, and is still affordable. Don't always just assume something good because of its name brand, look up reviews on everything before you buy.

built a sub box for $30 (cost of wood from home depot) assembled it with left over caulk/glue/screws i had
bought sub for $100 off ebay (rockford Hx2)
bought amp with a previous system years before (around $200-$300, but i later sold those subs for $150) so lets say $75 for amp (rockford 851s bridged)
bought the amp kit from walmart with my 1st system years ago and ive continued to use it with all my systems (maybe $40?)

    so in my case, $250

do all your shiit yourself=profit (its time consuming but satisfactory when youve gotten to know your car by running all the wires throughout it)

if your not familiar, let the pros do it, it will sound better and be wired right. but youll be paying around $500+ for a good system. $1000+ for really good system

If you pay anything over $150 for a headunit, and it isn't a touch screen or it doesn't make your car fly then you are ignorant. Also you do not need a 2 channel and a mono to support two subs. -_-

Regardless unless you are pulling some serious power with your subs, and you have a weak *** wiring setup on a $50 amp, there is no reason to have two amps. Especially not, one mono, one 2 channel.

I got my sub done at a shop for ~400, they have lifetime warranty on labor and 2 years on parts, I've blown 2 or 3 subs in the past year and they gave me a new ones for free, also managed to screw up my amp somehow and got a new one for free as well. Warranties from stores are awesome.

Good, I only consider RF to be in good quality for 8-10" subs.
