    1000 Calories a day Cut

    I'm 147lbs & 5" 7" & tomorrow I will start cutting. I was on 1600 calories a week but found it slow & wasn't losing fat.

I'm planning on hitting the weights 5 times a week with sat & sun off. I am going to start a 1000 calories a day in order to lose 2 pounds of fat a week.

    My Diet is:

    Meal 1: Porridge
Meal 2: Preworkout Strawberry Protein Shake
Meal 3: 2 Grilled Chicken Fillets
    Meal 4: Strawberry Protein Shake
    Meal 5: Grilled Steak Fillet

    Total: 986 Calores
    Protein: 124.3grams

I'm also taking Omega 3 Supplements.

Now I know I should have veg in there but I want to stick within the calories limit. I'm far happier having the protein shakes enough there I may be hungry some times. Porridge keeps me full for ages in the morning.

I'm wondering should I be able to cut 2 pounds of fat week??

    Thanks So Much!

you realize you are not going to lose weight and more lbm. You will easily burn 500-600 calories a day just from the workout let alone anything else.

Stick to 1600 and just do some late night cardio to keep that metabolism high

A huge bowl of broccoli a day on top of that would a)keep you fuller b)make your wee wee work better.

Seems like an over-extreme, unstustainable cut. I don't see how 986 calories won't shred through muscle as well as fat, unless you're completely sedentary, wash yourself with a stick style.

Thanks for the replies guys but I'm not losing weight at 1600 calories. I was thinking maybe just do this for 2 weeks. Then back to 1600 for a while & than back again to 1000 for another 2 weeks.

Its Frustrating not losing the pounds. Also I was under the impression that if I had a pound a protein for pound of lean body mass. I thought this would be a good idea. Like a PSMF diet but not as extreme?

Your wrong I lose a pound a week on the scale and add muscle at the same time. I upped my bench 15 pounds in 6 weeks and my other lifts are getting better. The key is to not lose too much too fast. I eat at a 300 calorie deficit daily and I burn 500 calories in cardio 4 times a week and 100 or more in my workouts 3 times a week but i dont work out hard (body bugg verified).

Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

Go down to 1300 and do cardio Thats what i do. Eat at least 155 grams of carbs and keep your protein at .8 per pound and get at least 22% of fats. This is my macros and it works great for me.

Also I only figured out I was forgetting to count extra virgin oil I was using in the pan for frying veg. The Label says there is over 300 cals per 100ml. How much should I count of that??:

1600 probably isn't even enough. Ever tried bringing it up to 2000? Hell, I have my 133lb gf cutting at 2100.

I'm cutting at 1,000 and I'm seeing good results. I just hit 160-180 Grams of protein with as little fat and carbs as possible. I haven't seen lifts go down and I've seen lifts go up so far. At your weight 1,000 wouldn't be that bad of a cut. It also depends on your body fat percentage. Go read the rapid fat loss handbook if you are looking for quick results and you have no more patience.

There's a difference in gaining muscle and gaining strength. Strength has a lot to do with the central nervous system. To gain anything - muscle or fat - you need to have a calorie surplus. Your fat does not turn into muscle. That's why they say "No, you haven't!" and I do agree.

This might cause another disagreement but you need carbs and esp fats. Carbs arent just carbs they do important things in the body. The same with fats.

Yes. Your body uses saturated fat to make hormones.

Don't give up so fast on what has been suggested and worked for so many people. I started lifting again in december and gained weight until febuary because I was putting on muscle. Unless you want to be unhealthy and be a skinny stick do what you're doing.

I foresee uncontrollable hunger and a rebound with that diet setup.

Well ill show you my progress picture in 4 and a half months.
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

Cutting at 1000 cals a day ... not advisable under any circumstances.

I'm planning on hitting the weights 5 times a week with sat & sun off. I am going to start a 1000 calories a day in order to lose 2 pounds of fat a week.

    My Diet is:

    Meal 1: Porridge
Meal 2: Preworkout Strawberry Protein Shake
Meal 3: 2 Grilled Chicken Fillets
    Meal 4: Strawberry Protein Shake
    Meal 5: Grilled Steak Fillet

    Total: 986 Calores
    Protein: 124.3grams

I'm also taking Omega 3 Supplements.

Now I know I should have veg in there but I want to stick within the calories limit. I'm far happier having the protein shakes enough there I may be hungry some times. Porridge keeps me full for ages in the morning.

I'm wondering should I be able to cut 2 pounds of fat week??

    Thanks So Much!
Are you using a measuring tape? This last week the scale hasn't moved, but I've lost an inch in my waistline.

You know guys. Lyle Mcdonald is not Jesus Christ, or anything.

I'm a bit tired of the personality cult that seems to surround he and others (Leangains, etc.)

When this guy talks, I listen. Secondly, even the famous "semi-starvation" experiment wasn't this low.

I'm not. My consensus is that most of the people here don't know what they're talking about half the time (me included).
