on a squat and feel great about it? SRS. I started with a warm up of 115lbs for 10. Then went to 135 for 6 for 2 sets. That's where I've been stuck recently. I felt ok so I tried 145 and made it to 4 reps...struggling on the last but not too much. I reracked, relaxed for a minute or 90 seconds and went back to the 145. I did three and slightly wavered on the last but felt I could do the 4th again without a HUGE struggle.....down I go, up, up, up 3/4 way....and my legs said "nope" and slowly went back down. I was in a rack and the pins were set so I dropped my butt all the way down knowing I wasn't coming back up and gently set the weight on the low pins. I then ducked my head and scooted back under the bar until I was clear, took the weights off the bar, reset the bar, and put it back to 115lbs. I proceeded to do a last set of 8. My legs are already sore, my hips too, and I know why. Weird thing is..I feel fantastic about it!! I've never failed on a squat before and I felt like I did it safely. But there's something about the soreness I have that makes me think it was a hell of a workout....
And YES I know soreness is NOT a true indicator of a good workout

Can't say I ever failed on a squat. I can typically feel it coming. If the previous rep was an all out war to get the bar back up, then I'm not going down for another one. The same thing applies to bench press. You learn to read your body and can get a feel for when the next rep will be one too many.
Can't say I've ever been "happy" about failing on a bench press rep or on a heavy deadlift. I actually get quite angry for a few moments. But now I'm pretty neutral about it since it happens, and theres no shame in it.

Not sure about failing squat and feeling good about it, since I dont push myself too much on squat (relatively speaking it is one of my weaker lifts, although this is partly due to having to correct minor APT atm...).
However I can confirm that I wanted to tear the face off whoever was near me when I failed 120kg on bench three times (at different times obviously).

Hmm ..didn't notice but thanks for the heads up. I thought it would actually get some blood flowing to my thighs dropping the weight to something I knew I could pump out with no problem. I'll be weary next time
As for all the other responses...they are great!! All the different points of view and experiences are definitely thought provokingOwner of So-B-Fit
