its been a big month for me misc brahs, bought a condo, finished my degree and broke up with my girl of 2 years
ive always wanted a dog, but couldnt have one due to not owning my own place and since i broke up with my girl i wouldnt mind some good company to share my home with (no homo)
wondering if the dog owners here can recommend me a good breed of dog. i would obviously love to get something big and alpha but im sure something like a husky just wouldnt be happy without a backyard.
criteria:
nothing too small
smart breed
blue eyes (to help pick up bishes obviously)
minimal (if any) shedding?
something i can feed for under $50 a month
the condo is on the top floor and does have a huge wrap around balcony the dog will have to itself, not to mention the space is 1000+ square feet so its not a tin can or anything. the balcony itself isnt super secure, it has bars or whatever. but im guessing a dog wouldnt get curious and fall the **** over? or is this a concern?
throw up some pics and help cheer me up
edit: also work a 9-5 so it would be alone for a lot of the day, so no breed that gets real needy and cries all day if it doesnt get attention. very open to walking it daily of course when i do get in...

x2 on the pet insurance if you can get it. Saved my gf tons of money when her shepherds hips went out.
Belgian Malinois are cool. Medium size, don't shed much, look great and are rareish.

Dont let buying a dog be an impulsive decision. If you get a dog think about the long term. You will spend x amount of dollars on vet bills and pet food. Money on flea and tick medicine monthly (it really adds up). You might sacrifice some of your ability to move up professionally and travel due to having a larger / medium size dog. They are a LOT of work.

lol
don't get anything hyper active, aka husky/border collies
they will f*ck your house up since no one will be with them when at work
huskys jump 8'+ anyway,
I'd go with a retreiver/terrier. Bisches usually like them (they look cute) and pretty chilled dogs. just lay down the law.
IMO just look at a type of dog you like, then research it a little. Training is very important, so is exercise so make sure you can tire it the fck out daily. Especially with some dogs that require alot of attention, when you start neglecting it, it fcks sh*t up. then you get pissed at it so you become agro at it. It's a downward spiral. You'll be with it for 10+ years, make it an awesome 10+ years brah.
edit: a mate of mine has a terrier, it's the best dog i've seen. Obedient, smart (so it can be taught tricks/commands relatively easily), talks (Groans when tired/sad/bored very lols). i've seen bisches get wet for them. even though they're small they're awesome.

This is going to sound insane but I knew a guy that lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with no back yard that owned a great Dane. He said it was the best house dog he ever had. You take it out for about an hour and a half and play with it make sure it gets tired. Then it was calm as fukk when it got home. You can't get anymore alpha than a great Dane.
