How do you guys do it? I've been on keto for about 3 months and recently I've rasied my fat intake and my energy levels are through the roof.
Im sick of taking sleeping pills because I don't want to be dependent on drugs.
On the flip side I've been considering doing keto all year around because...... well if uve successfully done keto you know how great it feels!
Thanks

Off of keto, my energy levels and such are so low, and I sleep HORRIBLY. Prior to keto, I was lucky to get 4 hours a night. I started keto and I find that I not only have much more energy throughout the day, but I sleep so wonderfully now.
I just got through a couple of cheat days, and my sleeping patterns returned to the way they were before starting keto. I love the way I sleep on keto. Have you always had issues with sleeping on keto? If not, and it started when you upped your fat intake, why not lower it to where it was before?Discipline is just being able to decipher between what you want now, and what you want in the long term.

just try to relax before bed, reading, shower ect. keto is a diet, not to be confused with a sleeping dis order. maybe you need to see a sleep specialist, just to eliminate any disorders so you can sleep. you need rest for recovery of your muscles. i too have insomnia and it sucks, i go from 3 to 6 hrs sleep.

Gonna recommend a few things. First, try melatonin. It doesn't work for everybody, but for some people it works wonders. It's natural at least.
Second, try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every night. Even if you don't sleep, lay down at the same time and turn everything off. Then, even if you are tired, wake up at the same time every day. Insomnia is fed by irregular sleeping patterns.
Lastly, try either going to bed with an empty stomach or a full stomach. I sleep better after I've eaten, others say they get better quality sleep if they quit eating a few hours before bed. Try and see what works for you.
GL OP, insomnia is a bitch. Just don't let it get you down, and try not to be anxious about it.= Misc Anxiety Crew =

This was a triumph. I'm making a note here, "huge success!"

OP, I reccomend, in this order:
1. Natural Calm.
2. Gaba (increase dosage slowly and watch side effects)
3. Melatonin (can make you drowsy the next day if taken too late/too much.)
These three plus a couple subliminal sleep programs on my ipod have helped me get to sleep, especially over the last month when I get home late from rehearsal and can't seem to "wind down" after a long night. Start with 1 and then add 2 and 3 only if necessary. It's time for a Breakthrough.

I recommend Melatonin very highly, not really a sleep aid, but helps makes the hours you do get more productive. CVS has a nice sleep combo, mostly Melatonin . And the suggestion of when you eat is a good one. Personally I don't eat close to bed, after dinner that is it. When do you workout?

65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.
