Got offered a job from a family friend in the oil field making 75k a year. Thing is, it is 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off. 12 hours a day. 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Anyone ever done this? May consider to do it for about 2 years and save up a **** load.

There was a guy here offering peple assistance in getting jobs doing the same thing in alaska and they paid nearly 200k. So get experience then look at other places for that money!!


Its tough work, its long hours, and away from family.. Which doesnt matter.

Come up with a financial plan so when you get done with it you will have serious bank and you can pocket this and possibly buy a new car/house in cash in 2-3 years.

85% of the jobs in my area are all oilfield and they do make a ton of money because of the long ass hours being gone at a single time. My advice: No kids, no wife, no worries! Make that money while you can!

unless youre rich as fuark and your parents are willing to let you mooch for a while this seems like an easy call. Dont let your cold feet get in the way of something that could get your life moving in the right direction in a big way.

dangerous job on the rigs bro, know people who have been hurt because of retards who come to work drunk or on drugs...the money in this job is not worth it imo

I have a cousin in the business. Its extremely hard work, and in the Texas heat it can be deadly. The job alone is dangerous enough but you will be trained for whatever you will be eventually be doing.

Hard work but you are well taken care of, it just comes down to being able to handle the work and apparently staying clean. My cousin says so many of them fail the drug test. Dunno why.

You're a lucky lucky SOB to get that job at your age, my mum's mate's husband has worked on a rig for 20 odd years, she's a lecturer at university and their house/castle (srs) is fukking MASSIVE (it's also haunted lol)
