Yeah, he's new. I'm just glad I didn't get injured because it felt like he was trying to hold me up after I fell forward. :/

And I think I've used everything ten or fewer times, and pretty consistently the past month or so. I didn't plan on doing it so soon but my first meet is now in mid-October instead of mid-December and I have to learn the shirt/suit. I can only train with someone who knows what they're doing once a week for now. But after my December meet I'm going to spend a good 2-2.5 months getting my raw strength up before getting back into gear for Collegiate Nationals in April.

    09/24

    Front squat
    95x5, 115x5, 135x5, 155x5

    Concentric pullups with Fat Gripz
    45 reps total in 4 sets (13, 12, 10, 10)

Couldn't ohp because of the pulled muscle in my rib or whatever it is.
Front squats were easy, but it was my first time using a clean grip and my wrists were done for the day.

you always wanna get stronger raw but since you're a noobie in gear it may be benefitial to train a lot more in gear. Maybe keep knee wraps on or get some loose briefs or loose suit with straps down.

And you *******s staying in the meet hotel on the entry form? Aloft I think?

Hm, I didn't think of that. I just feel like my raw strength has gone down a lot the past few weeks in the squat. I've missed 315 with wraps on two separate occasions when I've done 315x4 without wraps or sleeves maybe a month ago and 335x2 in sleeves recently. It could be because I'm not used to wraps or I just didn't wrap them right both times.

And I'll probably find out Monday where we're staying. Our "coach" says he's going to talk to someone he knows from FSU to see if we can stay somewhere free, but if not we'll probably stay in one of those two hotels. There's three of us going but one guy (the guy who spotted me in the last video) is going with his fiancee, so $50 each for me and the other guy wouldn't be too bad. I'm just dreading the 6+ hours drive. That reminds me, I haven't registered yet.

How close is your clean grip? Once I get the bar in the rack position I spread my hands out a few inches to take the stress off my wrists.

Well I used the power rack, so my grip might be closer than it would normally be, but I had my thumb knuckle where the smooth middle part of the bar meets the knurling, and my pointer and middle fingers were under the bar.

That's too close for me. That's the grip I use when I start my initial pull from the ground, but as soon as I rack it I shift my hands out until my pinky is on the ring. When I OHP or front squat from the rack I just set up there from the beginning.

Yeah I'm sure once I start doing cleans with front squats my grip will be wider out, especially if I do a jerk after.
Pinky on the ring is way too wide for me for OHP. That's my bench grip. :/

I use a thumb out from the middle smooth parts for my cleans and OHPs, but I'm still messing with grip on those just a bit, as I'm new to the movements. Puts me maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch away from pinkies on rings.

That sounds hawt. We're probably going to stay in Aloft.

    09/26

    Bench

    raw
    185x3
    +shirt (38 F6)
    240x1 touched wtf??
285x1 pretty good rep, kind of a grinder
305x0.25 bar stopped moving a few inches off my chest
285x0 missed the groove, touched way way too low, couldn't recover
I was being choked on every set. The collar isn't staying low even with my belt on super tight mode.
pretty pissed because the lightest I've ever touched with this shirt was 295 and I've benched 315 in it.
    raw
    135x5
    185x1 3 sets (on vid)

    Squat
took forever to warm up, my right flexor is still giving me problems. I did 3 sets of 10 with the bar, then benched, then did more sets with the bar. Even then I just kept the weight low for today.
    185x5, 185x5, 185x5
    225x2
    2 sets (on vid)

dicked around and did some snatches and power cleans with 40 kg and some rear delt work.

I've decided I'm competing raw in October so I really want some some input on my form for the 185 benches and 225 squats. I did them with my shirt off to show my arch and whatnot. Nobody else was in there anyway.

Agreed. And thanks. And I was just going to squat light today and my flexor was hurting so I figured I'd do atg-ish squats to get some blood flowing everywhere. I guess that wasn't the best thing to do for a form check...

everything looks good to me dude. I don't see why you're going raw though, you get extreme carryover on your equipped bench.

Meh, I think I've been "overreaching" the past few weeks and I just keep getting weaker in my geared lifts. I don't think anything is fitting me right either since I've somehow lost a few pounds. My squat suit feels too loose and my max squat now is 60 pounds less than it was a few months ago. My bench shirt won't stay "jacked" and chokes me no matter what I do, and my max shirted bench is at least 35 pounds less now than it was a month ago. And I've missed a 455 deadlift twice already which I hit mid-summer when my raw deadlift was even weaker than it is now. So I'm not very confident about lifting equipped this meet. It's my first meet and a lot of people say you should do your first meet raw anyway. I plan on eating a lot more and gaining weight and I'll lift equipped in the American Open in Bay St. Louis in December though. I'll be ready for that.

    cliffs: I'm a pussy.

Again, not a gear expert, but with the weight fluctuations, your gear does become totally different. Seems just like a learning curve with your gear to figure out the proper adjustments.

I think you touched on another issue with the sentance starting in "So I'm not very confident...." Head up and own the weights.

Yeah, besides everything not fitting right, the confidence thing is probably the biggest issue. Plus it's my first meet, so I'll be much better-prepared for my meet in December.

    09/26

    Sumo deadlift
    275x5
    315x3
    345x2

    +belt
    375x2
    395x2
    355x2
    315x3

Static barbell holds with Fat Gripz
    95x10seconds (5 sets)

10 OH squats with the bar
10 OH lunges with the bar
some rear delt / rc / scapulae prehab work

395x2 was a PR but it wasn't incredibly difficult, both reps were clean. Just wanted to do some doubles to see where I stood as far as my raw numbers are concerned. I think I'm supposed to work up to my opener about ten days before a meet, so next Tuesday/Wednesday I'll do that. Giving myself extra time so my groin can be fresh. Does anyone have any ideas of what my opener should be so I'll know what to do next week? I was thinking 170kg would be a good opener. My best is 390x5 about a month ago and 395x2 today, so maybe 172.5-175 would be better?
    Meet: 440/248/485 = 1173@144 sp

    09/29

    Squat
    (in kilos)
    20x15, 50x5
    70x5
    90x3
    110x1
was supposed to be a double but the left side of the bar hit the leg press machine
    110x1
    130x1
was also supposed to be a double, I just forgot to do the second rep lols.
140x2 (first rep was way too deep, I need to fix that)

    Bench (in pounds)
    135x5
    +chains (~30 pounds)
    135x3
    155x5
    135x10
did the last set with a grip a few inches closer than normal, might even consider it a cgbp.

    Dicked around and did
    rear delts
    10 reps of
    OH squats with bar
    front squats with 40kg
    and 5 reps of
    snatches with 40kg
    jerks with 40kg
tried jerking 70kg, just didn't happen. I can push press it but a jerk with my wrists in a clean position just feels weird. I'll have to work on flexibility even more and probably watch noob weightlifting vids. Also tried cleaning 70kg, felt like such a noob when I couldn't get under the bar fast enough. I'll chalk it up to being worn out. I want to eventually compete in that if I don't suck too much. There's a weightlifter here who can teach me stuff, so I've just been doing OH squats and stuff like that to make the process faster when I'm ready, maybe around January.

    fin.

edit: Looks like I definitely lost raw strength over the past month. Or I'm just squatting lower. And either I need to fix my squat depth within the next week or I'm lowering my planned opener from 140 to ~135 and keep my planned second attempt around 147.5-150.

lol look at the very next squat, you can see I moved the rack. And yeah, deepness sucks. I'm still learning to squat without a mirror, that might be part of the cause.

edit: I weighed in at 147.2 with clothes on this morning.

I would've just edited my above post, but I wanted to made a new post just about my Anderson Powerlifting experience.

I ordered a 36 and 38 Super Centurion from Anderson Powerlifting because I wanted to see if a 36 would fit me but didn't want to have to send it back and pay for shipping both ways for a 38 if it didn't. Weird thing is, the 38 Super Centurion with NXG Super+ material was easier to put on than my used 38 regular Centurion with NXG+ material. It literally slipped on. The 36 took a while to put on with my suit slippers, but it's a great fit. So I'm sending the 38 SC back and I'll probably use my 38 Centurion as briefs or something since it's so big on me now and so I don't wear out my SC. I'm still trying to gain weight though, so hopefully it'll still be useful in the future. I also ordered a 38 Super Katana A/S. No hate, I know I'm not ready to use it. I just wanted to order it before the prices shot up from 170 to 195. I also ordered a box of 10 ammonia capsules for my upcoming meet since my bottle of Nose Tork that I bought a few years ago ran dry.

I ordered the suits and shirt Wednesday evening, around 3 PM, and they shipped it out that day and I got it this morning. Super fast shipping! Great customer service, too. Carrol helped me with all my return/refund questions about the one suit I'd send back and the briefs I ordered a month ago and the SK sizing. I also got a 10% off discount for being a student!

I seriously think I'm ordering tomorrow because I gotta bunch of birthday monies. Size 38 super centurion, the problem is regular or wide? I think I need to bring my stance in and stick with it so regular. The bench shirt is an issue I can either get a size 38 or size 40 and bring in the arms (f6 of course). Maybe some wraps. Then problem is I am going to deadlift sumo. I might just not worry about the deadlift for now.
    I don't care.

If you're gonna deadlift and squat sumo then just get a sumo stance SC. I was able to deadlift in a big SC with older material but idk if you can get to the bar with a good position in a properly-fitting SC with NXG Super+. Bench shirt, you might do good with a 38. I'd probably be good in a 36 right now and we're about the same size. You can always return an item if you just tried it on an get a new size.
