How many workouts does it take you to see changes?

Hey guys, I've been told by many people that in order to start seeing changes in your body, such as more defined/ bigger biceps or chest, that it takes about 4 workouts until you start seeing results..... Is this true I say to myself... What do you guys think about that statement?

That's what I thought, but some people I know are adamant that they start seeing results after 4 workouts of that specific body part. Where they get it from is completely beyond me

It's not just about the workout (muscle growth), it's also about the bodyfat which gives the illusion of the muscle's appeal.

You may get a little stronger in that muscle area after a couple of workouts but that minimal I doubt you will see any real physical difference right away. Bodybuilding is a marathon not a sprint

It also depends on what stage of the game you're in. If you haven't lifted anything more than a fork for the last 15 years, you'll get results fast. Your body is going to adapt to an increase in physical demand. If you've been lifting for a while, are cut and want to get bigger, it's going to take more to stress your body to produce results.

you shouldn't be counting how many workouts, it takes months/years of consistent training to see good size and strength gains. Don't get your heart set on getting bigger in a certain number of workouts.

it takes however long it takes, it will vary with person to person.

Diet is also an important factor.

You may feel stronger, but significant changes take time. Building muscle is a long term process.

it all depends on how hard you workout.

but if u do hard day in and day out and u workout consistently

id say your going to start seeing small changes around 2 months.

Whoever said that has never lifted in his life. That means if you go to the gym for 4 days (1 workout per day) then you will start to see results.. that's not even 1 work week!! You need to go 4-5 days per work and spend 45-60 minutes in the gym for at least 1-2 months before you start to see small results.

PS: Off topic.. is the rep system on this site a joke or what? Every single one of my posts I'm trying to help someone and I keep going into the red. Then I see people get rep'd every day for saying smart ass comments that aren't helpful at all. Not even really sure what rep is used for so idc, just saying.

Why would I be mad about that? You're not going to get as good results working 3 days a week as you would 4 days a week. I never said working out 1 less day is going to magically remove ALL gains you would get.

You're very wrong. I would make much LESS progress if I went to the gym more often. In time you will learn young padawan.

Well here's my opinion...Everyone is different, but if you haven't worked out at all in your life you're probably gonna start seeing results within 2-4 weeks of heavy lifting and eating right.

The results you'll see in 2-4 weeks will be nothing compared to several months or years of working out.

Well, here is the best way to see changes, keep a workout log, I have mine with me every time I'm in the gym, and I record every set, rep, and amount of weight moved. By doing this, I can look back and see that I am now pushing up more weight than I was 2 weeks ago, so, changes are seen, as for growth, if your getting stronger, using the right rep range for hypertrophy, and eating right, you will be getting bigger, whether your seeing it or not.

Thank you! Someone that actually gives a decent answer. I've recently started keeping a workout log. We'll just have to see if any stats change throughout the next few weeks and months. Thanks.,

No problem dude, Just keep track of everything, use that log to see where your improving and not improving, and really as long as your getting stronger, keeping your reps right, and have rest and nutrition in order, you will grow.
