How commonplace are routines like phul/phat/gcdlz among pro bodybuilders?

Was just wondering if these routines are predominantly meant for newbies to get acquainted with bodybuilding or if the fitness models/bodybuilders you see on tv or magazines use them too.

Will these programs eventually be able to get you to that level or are they intended to be a starter routine?

Phul and phat are intermediate routines for naturals. Not beginner programs at all. The pros are so drugged out that their training is basically secondary. What the pros do in terms of training is useless for the average person.

Phat is most definitely not a beginner program.

    It’s an intermediate-advanced program.

Layne Norton created it and lots of guys ran it or something similar for a while.

This is the natural bodybuilding crowd though.

As TAWS6 mentioned in the enhanced realm it’s a much different animal.

Usually it’s bro splits, PPL, or some sort of split catered to their specific weak points to bring them up.
the latest and greatest in training...or whatever.

Ah fair enough, out of interest do these people then usually all move onto personalized routines?

Well Layne created phat specifically for himself.

I don’t know of a pro who does a cookie cutter program.

Eventually when you’re advanced enough you should hopefully have enough knowledge to program for yourself.

Pretty sure that was written when he was powerlifting at a world level too (or at least top of nats)

For strict bodybuilding, i seriously doubt that's what he was pushing with - could be wrong tho.

    They aren’t.

A lot of bodybuilders don’t really “program” at all and go by feel. This is regardless of “supplement” use or not.

I recently watched a video where cutler explained his “program” He basically just goes on about what bro split he’s used. Nothing about progression, de loads, resets.. as expected.. just up the dose lol

He designed the original PHAT for BBing but you’re right he took that base plan and adapted it for PLing too.

Pretty incredible to think about it really.
