Got a short ride in Friday night nice and windy, mountain biked Saturday, and a 20 mile easy spin yesterday morning...brrrrrr... temp when I left 38, temp when i got done 36. I much prefer complaining about it being to hot.

So what are some good bike training programs?
The next 6 months that is going to be my primary focus, partially due to shoulder and elbow injuries keeping me from lifting much these days, and also from a challange from a buddy yesterday for a half Iron tri next April. So we put together two relay teams for fun, both he and I get the bike leg. My swimmer is a former collegiate champ, and she was an olympic hopeful a few olympics ago, now shes a distance swim coach. And my runner is a professional marathoner, the past five marathons shes placed first in womens, one finish being second overall. Now the pressure is really on, I can't let down the bike leg.

My plan of action is immediatly cut, cut, cut.. I was never small and used to race around 180 so I need to get back down to that or a bit below as fast as possible, and obviously up the riding. Work and lack of daylight only leaves the weekends for long rides. Figure I'll head up to the mountains as much as possible, the race will be almost flat so thats a good thing. Probably do as many sprints in the evening as possible, and its looking like a lot of time on the trainer with the old heart rate monitor.

Any tips and tricks from you guys will be much appreciated for speed and efficiency. Coming from a mountain bike down hill racing background I've still got a lot to learn on the road.

I hit up Noble Canyon with a buddy today. It's typically a downhill trail, but we got adventurous and decided to climb it. It's empty on the weekdays.

30 miles, 3500 feet of climbing. I fell at one point when going downhill and my left pedal snagged on something. Gnarly bruise on the right side of my body, pain in my rotator cuff and a lot of soreness on my right side.
My Camelbak took most of the brunt, but it broke my sunglasses.

    The beginning of the climb.

This is dubbed The Stairway to Hell. It keeps on going for a while.

    My buddy catching up.

    The rides

Ow! Luckily this was the easy section.

I did a wuss hill workout yesterday but decided to do it in a hard gear 39x15, 8% grade (10% for the last block), 160 seconds, 4 minutes rest, only lasted 3 intervals.

My bike racer buddy now says, we should get into good shape and average 20mph up the hill. WTF?

    EDIT: I bet I was at 80 rpm average, so that's 16mph. ****. 4mph more.

Nice ride Carlos. I'd love to buy a good mtb, we just don't have the terrain close enough to justify it. If I move for work or anything again good cycling is def. going to be a factor

just out of curiosity, is the left break the rear break, or the front break?
right is front here(uk), but seen a fair amount of vids with americans talking, and its the reversed.
I write misk on every banknote I get.
how the misc works. see a thread. copy the pics/info. start a new thread on same subject with the same pics/info. profit?

Did my first Computrainer Class last night and it's really hard. Basically your bike is on a trainer and they have the computer hooked up to it and you do intervals, threshold and tempo. All in one workout. F'ing brutal. In real riding you can rest by drafting or going downhill but not in a class like this. I should be ready to race by the time the season starts in the Spring. Lactate threshold measurement is next week so I'll update you on how much vomit I puke up by weight and volume and how it impacts my watts.
