Hi folks,
Iron Mulisha (JHICKS3301) and myself have teamed up to help out the tornado victims in our area. This cause is dear to us because we are locals and have seen the devastation first hand. Not only that, but Hicks is one of those affected and is currently living with no electricity...for who knows how long...estimates are 2 weeks before it's restored!!! He had to throw out a substantial amount of spoiled food himself yet he's out purchasing supplies with donated money and passing it out to those in need in his community and nearby areas.
If you are a local (Montgomery, Wetumpka, Prattaville, Millbrook, or Huntsville area) and prefer to donate supplies let me know and I'll tell you where to drop them off! Even if you can't donate you can still help by passing this info along to others who may be able to. Please post this on your ********/twitter/other social network or even on other forums so we can get the word out. NO amount is too small...$5 buys a case of water or a few jars of baby food or a small pack of diapers or a meal for someone. For $10 we can fill a basket for a family with 5 tooth brushes, full size shampoo, full size tooth paste, chapstick, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, deordant, and a bar of soap!
Anything is appreciated!!! If you'd like to make a donation you can send it via paypal to Jhicks3301@yahoo.com OR if you don't use paypal message me for info on where to send a check. Pics coming to show what we've distributed so far!!
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

can you guys give me the scoop on Huntsville? I am supposed to fly there at 0730 tomorrow for a DAU course. DAU site gives me no info just a pending class. I called redstone and all it says is the commisarry and exchange is open. My hotel has no power or phones. I have a buddy enroute from germany with no idea that he has no place to sleep.
is there any chance power will be restored tomorrow.

Damn I figured that the DAU campus only says
CON 234 Class 011 (3-13 May) - Class pending day-by-day basis/guidance. If students are traveling on Monday, they should first call to verify that their flight has not been cancelled, that they still have a confirmed hotel reservation, etc. Additionally, they should call the Redstone Arsenal Hotline (1-877-863-1462) and verify the operational status of Redstone Arsenal (if Redstone is open then the Huntsville Campus is open).
I was staying at the Hampton Inn yet their web page says no power no phone and I cannot call

Great thread. I live in Birmingham near Bluff Park. My wife and I were fortunate and received no damage. We were just without power for about 14 hours. Very lucky. I volunteered the past two days in the Pleasant Grove area helping people pack up whatever valuables they could salvage before the expected rains Monday and Tuesday get here. It is surreal to see people who have lost everything up close and personal.

Awesome...thank you for giving your time!! I know it's tough to see it-kinda puts things into perspective...we were blessed and didn't have any damage nor did we lose power but we have before for days during a hurricane. No fun!!
If you can please get this out to others...we would greatly appreciate it!!
