    My "gym" so far

I was looking on craigslist every morning and late afternoon for almost a week.... and I have to say that I lucked out when I found these

A set of dumbbells from 35lbs to 95lbs in 5lbs increments, all for $500 (plus $50 gas and $50 in taxes at the border). They are a bit dirty and have minor surface rust, they have hex screws on the ends. Im looking to make some dumbbells racks

    ohh and a Nautilus bench

Thats really cool! I've gotten all of my equipment from craigslist. I'm curious on your thoughts about your home gym though.

I've been considering something like. Does the pull down and the pull up pulleys work well with a lot of weight?

It's pretty good, a lot more smoother than the ones with weight stacks. I was actually ooking for a power rack with a lat pull down and a pull-up, but they were either too expensive (Nautilus also makes some). If I were to find one of those then I would get rid of this one.

Nice looking dumbbells you have there. With a little patience, you should be able to pick up a cheap DB rack off CL. Are those monitor 60s going in your gym as well?

Bought this floor but they couldn't handle the weight of the dumbbells. Every time I set them on the ground it sounded like I was dropping them on the cement floor.

Old lat machine, had 2 x 200lb stacks put no leg hold down and couldnt use the other stack because of space issues, so it was kind of useless, the row portion was good

Nice gym!! What I did with my dumbells was bought a set of 4, 2.5 lb. plate mates and sold my 25,35,45 etc. etc. etc. lb. dumbells on CL. and used the money for other gym equipment. They work great and they save alot of space. Pike

A lot of nice 1" weight in there! I really am starting to like the standard 1" weight after I got some decent bars and collars from Hampton and Ivanko.

I don't understand why people get so down on standard weights. Back in the '70s that is all there was, and oly bars were not the norm, look at 'Pumping Iron" and you see standard plates and weight all over. Arnold got big on standard weights and their were very few oly bars in the original Golds Gym. For most movements under 150lbs., using a bar 5' or 6' in length was what was done. When I was younger we had about 750 lbs in olympic plates (400 of which was 100 lber's) and about 1800 in standard plates floating around in my dank, dark basement. Those were the good old days, lol.

even though Olympic sets are in and out of my house at least twice a week, I never decide to keep any. I love the simplicity of good ol standard pancake plates. Just as effective as Olympic, and great for someone like me that does strictly dumbbell work
