Am I using the wrong kind of protein?

OK so fatty reporting in. Lifting and doing cardio on a small deficit to lose weight. Aside from my 3 normal meals, I'm taking in 2 protein shakes a day of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey. I take one of them as a PWO, and the other as basically just a meal replacement.

However someone told me that this kind of protein is only good for PWO because it is absorbed quickly and I should replace my non-pwo shake with something that is absorbed more slowly like Casein. True/False?

    Thanks

Just hit your macros, nutrient timing is irrelevant. Although look into a better protein such as myofusion, XF whey, Xf up 2.0, Trutein or Vasolate.

Protein is protein, meal/ nutrient timing does not matter - no set amount of shakes per day. Ideally, I ingest zero. I use it to supplement my protein intake. For me, calories are lowered on a cut, and ratio of protein:carbs:fat is higher on the protein. Shakes are great because they are low in fat and carbs, and help me to supplement my protein macronutrient intake.

Just don't eat carbs before bed! Not srs.

Deficit+macro hitting = fat loss, not amount of shakes or meal timing.

casein helps to keep you feeling full. so if you're always hungry, a protein higher in casein may be what you're looking for.

trutein is 40% casein, 20% egg, and 40% whey. We're on the bb.com store over here at http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/tr...n/trutein.html

Lots of people tell us we have the best flavors on the market. You can order samples to see for yourself at http://www.truscience.com/samples.html

I believe not. Chicken and whey are actually the same. They're both protein sources.

If you don't reach your protein requirements with whole food, that's the time you supplement one since Whey is a cheap source of protein.

I could possibly get all my protein from whole foods, I just like the shakes because they're quick and easy and help alleviate some of the preparation and planning I have to do.

Nothing wrong with that. As long as you're comfortable with it.

I'm comfortable with it, I just want to make sure that the protein is getting fully utilized. I was worried that the whey I'm using is absorbed too quickly and isn't being used efficiently.

Worrying ends here. You are just overthinking about it. Go out now, eat, sleep, and lift.
