    Pull-ups upper triceps area ?

    Hi,

when I'm doing pull-ups with a close grip (arms at the side of the body) and hands in hammer position - I always feel a lot of muscle burning in the very upper area of my triceps or upper arm backside. Usually these areas gives up - before my lats do. Is this the tricpes or which muscle is it ?

Pretty sure the long head of the tricep does connect to the scapula, so if you have a tricep injury or tightness, this could be why it hurts during this exercise. I've heard of people tearing their tricep doing close grip pull downs. The area you described sounds like the top of the long head. Stretch/rehab your tri and see if it improves.

If that area gives up but the lats remain, can the lats still do the job?
