Well, it simply depends on the total amount of carbs you want to ingest daily.

100g of oatmeal have about 66g of carbs.

Why is is the only source of carbs - why do you not have access to pasta or bread?

Pasta and esp. bread, are inferior to oatmeal.

But they are still very good carb sources - besides oatmeal doesn't go down to well with beef and chicken

    Pasta lacks fiber.

Bread can be too processed - containing too much sugar or have a GI which is on the high side.

Oatmeal is the king of carbs.

You could also try pearled barley as a carb source. One cup has 193 calories/44 grams of carbs/6 grams of soluble fiber and a GI number of 25.

Wholewheat pasta is not totally devoid of fibre, if fibre is what you want I recommend a bran based cereal

Bump on that. Oatmeal is even better than whole wheat bread and pasta. It is also even better than sweet potatoes. The only problem with making oatmeal your only souce of carbs is that you get sick of it. I'm getting sick of eating warm oatmeal, so I often just throw some dry oats into some cottage cheese and flavor it with some splenda and cinnamon. Try eating some sweet potatoes, whole grain rice, and whole wheat bread in place of oatmeal for your carbs once in a while - they are not as good as oatmeal, but they are still good sources of carbs and will prevent you from getting sick or oatmeal.

i add splenda and cinnaamin to my oats(it makes it taste like a desert), i have been doing this for more than 4 years now and have not gotten sick of it once, even when eating many cups a day while bulking

    ex: eggs and oats
    tuna and oats
    chicken and oats
whey and oats....anything goes well with a bowl of oats haha
